If he does well this year he will be the Jets' QB as long as he can be productive, which I ballpark to be around 4 or 5 years.

I think Tangini has a vision for the future and while they want to win some games this year, Kellen Clemens is in the vision that they have. While CP is my boy and I hope he does well, I don't see Tangini keeping him around.

I think Pennington would seem like a guy to notice that is time as the starting QB will decrease over the next few years, so I can imagine him helping out Clemens a lot because he seems like a team oriented person.

If he's productive and leads us to a good season (6-10 is a bad season, you should have used 10-6 or better to describe a good season), then he will be starting for as long as he can until he either retires or loses his job for ineffectiveness.

The only question I think matters is his health. As long as he plays healthy, and doesn't make mental mistakes, which we know he doesn't.

I see this playing out a lot like San Diego at this point. We have the incumbent, who regardless of recent performances is still the man right now, while the young guy gets some time with the playbook.

No matter what Penny does, he has 3 years left tops. That includes this year. Unless somehow he leads us to a title in 2008, and looks honestly poised to do it again in '09.

Clemens was hand picked to be the future leader of the team. When he masters the playbook, he will get the ball. The only way Penny even has a job after this season is if he plays at the top of his game.

If he plays well and remains healthy, at most he'll get a couple of years until people start wanting to see Clemens
