Wanted to get this up here now so I do not have to go digging later...it's only ONE game down but as the season progresses and they win their division...(and you can just feel it)...I wanted to make sure this was up as we watch our disaster of a QB situation implode. Oh, and so NYJunc has a place for all the "I told you so's" going forward. Had to go back a little bit but finally found it...Oh...I SO called this! Posted Sept 22nd, 2013.... Of course, wasn't the Patriots but, as far as the NFC goes, the only worse landing spot, in my opinion as a Jets fan, would have been the Giants. Mezzavo's Prediction concerning Mark Sanchez
Crap...good point...wasn't paying attention to where I put this. Mod's...a little help please...? Thanks!
Sanchez threw two picks and the Eagles won anyway. Foles has been doing that for a month now. Chip Kelly <> blown out by mediocre QB play.
I acknowledged that...just wanted to get it up...and, can't you feel it? Oh Sanchez is going to light it up just BECAUSE it's the very thing that will make the Jets look as bad as possible. LOL!!!
Sanchez threw one pick...did you SEE the 2nd pick...yeah...not on the QB no matter who it was...the "point" I'm trying to make is still valid.
Is this one of those junc posts where a pick is not a pick because I didn't watch the game? A pick is a pick. It can be an unlucky pick but it's still a pick. That's one of the things that most defines Mark Sanchez - he throws picks. It is what it is. When he goes a season with less than 10 picks I'll revise my opinion. This can happen by the way. There are guys who threw picks all over the place early in their career and then became both more careful with the ball and more productive with their throws at the same time. That's what Sanchez has to do if he wants to remain on the field in the NFL.
I think a decent amount of rational Jet fans knew Mark had talent to succeed in this league. Not sure what people are trying to prove here. Mark's gone - nothing we can do about it but find another QB.
Never mind...was just making a point...it's more along the fact that the Jets aren't capable of nurturing a QB... I thought Marty would be good for Geno but I couldn't have been more wrong.
It is way too early. Players almost never change their stripes after you've seen a big enough body of work from them. Give Sanchez a few games. He's lucky he's got an offensive guru like Chip to mask some of his big deficiencies but he's still a turnover waiting to happen and can't read the field to save his life. The only thing Mark is literally good at it is getting rid of the ball right away and throwing with some zip on it. When he just reacts, he sometimes makes nice throws. Yet when he had to think and make decisions back there is where he really struggles. That's what his first TD looked like the other day. Other than that, he is lacking in so many areas of being a good starting QB. I just never understood the fascination by a small but stubborn faction of the Jets fanbase with mediocre players like Sanchez. Hope the kid succeeds but my eyes don't lie and I know he's just a backup QB.
Well you know what they say, you never know what you got until it's gone. After watching Geno Smith perform, fans are reminiscing on the days when the Jets had a more well-balanced team with a young QB in Sanchez.
Actually...not trying to prove anything other than we had a QB, in house, capable enough of winning games...winning enough games for the Jets to be consistently good. This is essentially pointing out what I "called" over a year ago. Another in a long line of players the Jets drafted yet gave up on and it will come back to "bite" us. That's it...
I honestly don't think letting go of Sanchez will ever come back to bite us but let's see how the next 8 games play out for him. I think he's a spot starter in this league, at best, and over the course of an entire season his flaws will always be exposed. JMHO.
The Jets were 5-13 in Sanchez last 18 starts with the team. Again, we're remembering D'Brick - Faneca/Slauson - Mangold - Moore - Woody and Cotchery - Edwards - Holmes - Keller - TJ and LT and the mental image we're superimposing on that is Mark Sanchez. In fact as soon as the names above began to decline Sanchez became a 5-13 QB.
Thank you I'm not getting all this immediate love for Sanchez. Most of it is Jet bashing. Did anyone see Cannizzaro's column in the Post today. Pure revisionist history. BTW, I didn't get a chance to see the Eagles' game, but Boomer Esiason did, presumably with a fine eye. He repeated several times yesterday that Sanchez should've had another pick, so it evens out. Two picks is two picks.
Well Sean McDermott now has time to dust off the old Sanchez film and put together a game plan based on who is starting at QB. We'll all get to see the result of that in the bright lights on Monday night. If Sanchez is a different player, the anti-sanchez crowd needs to be reasonable and recognize that. If he is a train wreck and throwing INTs to d-linemen, well, the Sanchez fans should step up and do the same.
Mark had a solid game this past week. I supported Mark longer than most, but it was his time to go. Jets fans need to remember going forward, just because he is playing well in Philly doesnt mean that would be happening in NY. He gave me the two best years in my history as a fan, but his play and compensation definitely earned his release.
