Don't you? I mean, I love football like the rest of you but these Thursday night games do nothing more than water down the football week as far as I'm concerned. Who's watching the Niners game tonight? Can you even get it? Did some of you even know the Thursday night bullshit started already? I'm in a few fantasy leagues and a pick'em league, and having to make picks and player decisions on Thursday afternoon really blows. I'm not into it yet. I don't think I'm alone here. NFL - get rid of the Thursday night games PLEASE. Make it Saturday night, and don't give me the excuse they can't go up against college games since there were a couple of those on tonight too. Stop being television whores. I know, I know, that's what made you rich and powerful, but at this point it waters down the product. Wonder why Monday Night Football doesn't receive the attention and excitement that it once did? Easy answer: It's because there are NFL night games also on Thursday, Saturday (December) and Sunday nights. Monday is nothing special and hasn't been in years. A night NFL game on national TV will probably be a nightly (yawn) occurrence. I'm just happy our Jets are not home for one these games.
No Thursday night, no Saturday night, and hell, if I had a choice I'd say no Monday night either. NFL should be played on Sunday, no exceptions. As much as I love hanging out, watching football and drinking beer, I do have other things I have to do during the week.
To hell with that. Football should not be played at all. We should just get together to talk about it all the time. I'll bet we could talk the damn Jets into a Super Bowl if we were lined up against those self-centered bastards in New England who think the world revolves around them.
What idiot would not wanna see NFL as much as possible? I completely agree with Dharris52. The only reason it would suck to have games on thursday nights is if you worked late.
that game was a bore fest i was going in looking forward to the game but it sucked thursday night games are a great idea though. think about it. The most days you will go without watching football is 2 days for the remainder of the regular season. That beats the 5 days in between football games.
Right on. Hell, if the NFL wanted to show a game at 4:00PM on a Tuesday afternoon, I'd be all for it.
And, in thinking about it, the logic of the OP that weeknight football "waters down" Sundays is ass backwards. In reality, how many of the dozen or so games that are played on Sundays do you actually get to see from start to finish? Two, maybe three? If anything, weeknight football would allow you to watch MORE NFL games in their entirety.
i don't buy the watered down BS either. It gives me a chance to see other teams. I love Mike Singletary and what he stands for. The piece they did on Vernon Davis and Singletary was beautiful and are the kinds of stories I live for in sports. Give me a game on Thurs, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
I'd be in school but I'd be pumped too. That's what DVR is for. I'd come home watch the game, and then go online and check out all the reactions and specifics.
A full Sunday of NFL plus college on Saturday plus a game Monday plus sports news and NFL films all week isn't enough? I love watching football as much as the next guy but I have school, a job and a life. There usually aren't more than 3 games worth watching anyway, and if there are that's why we have DVR and NFL replay.
I agree with the OP and it surprises me how many disagree here. Talk about the over-exposure of the NFL. I completely forgot that there was a game on last night. Had I known I would have gotten Cutler out of my fantasy lineups pronto!
I love the NFL, I wish they could play a game every night, but sadly that's impossible. I do feel bad for the traveling team though. Their at a huge disadvantage, basically one day to do a walk through and that's it.
