After the comments Rex said and Norv's rebuttal.

Rex Ryan left little doubt that he would have won a couple Super Bowls by now if the Chargers hired him rather than Norv Turner in 2007. Ryan was interviewed for the San Diego vacancy after Marty Schottenheimer was fired four years ago. The Chargers went with Turner, who has reached one AFC Championship game during his tenure. Ryan obviously felt he could have produced better results.

“Well, I think I would have had a couple rings," Ryan told San Diego reporters today when asked about how things would have unfolded if he were hired by GM A.J. Smith. "I'm telling you, those teams were loaded. There's no question about it. But things happen for a reason. Obviously, Norv Turner has done a great job there. And A.J. (Smith) and everybody. That's a great franchise. He was probably the best guy for the job at that time."

Norv: "I was wondering if he had those rings with the ones he's guaranteed the last couple of yrs."

I want Norv to stay in San Diego, they are doomed to make the playoffs every year and get no farther than the first round...quite funny.

Rex was taking a shot at the Chargers organization for not hiring him to coach that team. It's clearly also a shot at Norv, though who knows if it was intended.

Either Rex doesn't think things thru before he says them and unwittingly takes shots at people, or he knows exactly what he's saying and doesn't care... His apology phone call to Norv would seem to suggest the former.

This obviously wasnt a well thought out quote. Not only is he taking a shot at the chargers and norv, hes also taking a shot at his own team, his GM and himself.

He says if i was coach of the chargers id have had a couple of rings. So hes saying the jets arent as "loaded" as the jets. He then says he should have gotten a couple of rings with the jets...so what is he trying to say?

On weeks where we have no controversy we play like hot garbage.

    This was needed.

One thing is for certain. Norv isn't coming here to kiss Rex's imaginary rings!

i was thinking this too. This was pointed out many times already that when the team isnt saying anything, they usually suck. Last year was DUIs, feet, and Inez Sainz. We need to out do last year to guarentee at least another AFCC appearance.

What can a player do this year that could leave us in the news for months to come?

Which is why he followed up the comments above with thanking for organization for his first HC interview and how it wound up opening up doors for him around the NFL? What a sick burn!

The more Rex talks the better we seem to play. Keep talking Rex!

Honestly this will get blown out of proportion but Rex said this jokingly. He was saying how stacked that team was and I don't think he meant any disrespect to norv.

Maybe he can admire the ring that Rex actually has. It's about as close as Norv Turner is ever going to get to one.

Football news would sure be a lot duller if it weren't for the Ryan family. I am sure the reporters love them. I am also sure that Rex didn't mean any disrespect to Norv or his players.

I'm also sure that somebody will use it as a motivational tool.

I have no doubt that Rex would've done a lot more with the Chargers than Norv. Ever since Norv replaced Marty, it's been a steady decline with the Chargers. Slow starts to every single season, squandering Tomlinson's talents during his prime years, etc. I'm sure Tomlinson would've loved to have played under Rex when he was still in his prime.
