It seems like every offseason there are rumors that we are going to let Barton go and every year he's still here. I think he's the glue that keeps our defense together. I expect great things from him in 2008

Let's just hope he doesn't elbow another quarterback in the face if we make it to the playoffs again...

One thing that caught my eye at the scrimmage is that Barton is very vocal. He reminds me of the way Bryan Cox used to be. I'd say he is a leader on defense.

Jenkins is also very vocal. I still think he was the best pickup of this offseason.

barton has always been the sleeper in our defense hardly gets recognized, but always there, kerry rhodes is our beast. with anybody in are front four, now with jenkins woah watch out, definite 3 time pro bowler, oh wait i mean first time pro bowler.

Oh yea he is having a solid camp. One thing that surprised me from the article on the jets website was that he and Shaun Elllis are the only two players left from the 2004 team. Nuts when you think about how Mangini completely rebuilt this defense in such a short time.

He may be the one who helped Harris look so good last year.

Barton is a key cog. Not our best LBer but solid for the most part. Starting to get a little long in the tooth so I hope we have a replacement comming down the pike in a couple years.

    That isn't true at all.

Brandon Moore, Chad Pennington, Jerricho Cothcery, Bryan Thomas and David Barrett were all on the 2004 roster.

With the exception of that boneheaded play in the playoffs, Barton has been excellent. Glad to see him get some love around here.

Agreed...I think he may really be the most underrated player on our D. Nothing but solid play and fiery leadership from the guy...without a contract peep.

I wonder how well he'll do this year with harris and jenkins around him. This defense has to be good. There's no excuse for anything else.

If Barton is the weakest link in the starting LB corp, I think we are going to be OK.

if we make the playoffs in 2008, he can do whatever he wants as far as I'm concerned.

That may be true, but I'm cautiously optimistic that either 1) BT will return to 06 form with Pace and Jenkins added to the lineup or 2) If he is ineffective, Gholston will take his spot in the lineup.

Gholston will take his spot, but not before half the season is gone. BT has talent, but does not put things togeather every play. Hopefully VG takes over very soon, but its better for thomas to hold the fort till he is ready.
