from peter king's article in SI: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20130101/jeff-fisher-rams/?sct=uk_t12_a5
I don't like King- he seems like a Boston homer Imho it is too early to see if this was good rams move or just like he said- Jordan for Bowie
I think there is no one way to build, each teams circumstance is different. In the case of ours I don't think we need to blow up the team, just re-tool with the right moves.
they sure do have alot of picks to work with. thats how the niners built their dynasty and the cowboys too. remember when they traded a guy named herschel to the vikings for a kings randsom of picks.
I agree with Step #1 above get lucky. Have a top two pick in a draft with two elite level pro grade QBs, have no need for said QBs, start bidding war for the spot, trade to team that is will to give away all of their picks, draft a lot of players and hope they pan out. It's not about rebuilding - it's about retooling. Take what you do well or players you are really confident about - build around them and hope things gel. The Rams had a better than expected season, but still a losing season.
I am still very jealous of this deal. 2 firsts 2 seconds and a fifth... That would be awesome to have.
It's all about Bradford at this point. If he proves out the Rams made a great decision last year. If he doesn't, well that's Ken O'Brien-Dan Marino territory and we all know how we felt about that one when the numbers came in.
That seems like a great deal in theory, but if Bradford doesn't work out then it will seem like a bad move if the Skins start winning championships or at least compete for one every year. We've seen over the past few years that it is absolutely essential to have a franchise QB in order to compete regularly and win a championship. The days of Trent Diler and Brad Johnson riding good defenses are behind us for awhile.
By the way, I'm currently reading 'War Room,' the book mentioned in the article. Highly recommended to those who like reading about the business side of the NFL.
We'll see what they do with those high picks however I have a feeling in hindsight they'd much rather have RGIII. NE has stockpiled picks over the years and a lot of them haven't panned out.
Too early to call STL smart or not because of this. RGIII could turn out to be a great QB and a game changer who they completely passed on, or they could hit on these draft picks, Bradford pans out, and they hit on the trade. The way to rebuild in the NFL is to get lucky.
Rex is still the coach nobodys "rebuilding" im so sick of hearing and seeing threadss about rebuilding no bodys rebuilding, Two losing seasons and we Fire Rex????? After what he did the first two years, u guys suck. Sanchez burryed this franchise with his bullshit interceptions and 52 turnovers in two years
We don't need to rebuild, we ne ed to retool. What the rams did us not rebuilding, it is retooling. You lock up the guys you think will gel well together, fill holes with cheap role players in free agency, and draft the BPA when it is your time to pick. The only hole that should ever be filled through the draft is a QB.
RG3 BETTER work out, all by himself, because the 'Skins ain't getting help from the draft for years to come. This may reduce RG3 to 'the best QB who never was'.
And right now the Redskins are the NFC East chapmions playing in the playoffs this weekend and the Rams are a sub .500 team patting themsleves on the back for being smart while sitting home watching the playoffs. More than ever, the NFL is a now league. And right now RGIII has accomplished more than Sam Bradford in 1/3 the time. Noibody cares what could happen in 2014. The Rams are "smart" because they have a coach who has never won anything and has nothing more than one super bowl appearance 13 years ago plus a quraterback who is far from the elite level needed to win consistently. This "smart" thinking will last all of about four games next season because losing records far overshadow all of the potential of collected draft picks.
the skins have a lot of young weapons. they are also like one of the richest nfl franchises. theyll be fine
Im sick of all the "no it all's" Saying clean house , Its a joke honestly and it wouldn't surprise me to see us fire Rex and see him go win 5 superbowls somewhere else with a stable roster, Everyones giving up on Rex way to soon, Wait and see time will tell what Rex is. Mark Sanchez iis the bigger problem with this team then anybody else, So is the OC and the whole offensive staff
