I am going to the game Sunday and have been trying to picture a situation where the Jets win. I am having a hard time. I think about our wins, and aside from Arizona, there's nothing that impresses me so far.

The Bills have shown the ability to hang around in games and pull out victories, like against the Raiders, and they beat San Diego who killed us. Sure, they got dominated by Arizona but they were shaken by the loss of their QB early.

Anyway, going through their D, I don't see many opportunities to exploit. They have a safety and a DE out, and I think Chad picked on one of their corners last week, but that's it.

On offense their line got exposed last week and I doubt they'll let the same happen again. Also, we can;t sack Edwards on every pass play, and he isn't the type of guy who gets off his game. So, we will need to cover Parrish and Royal to avoid giving them these easy 3rd down conversions.

I'm worried the Game will look like this:

On Offense, we'll open the game moving the ball, and once they figure out our routine plays, we'll abandon part of the strategy instead of calling a variation of a particular play or using something else. The run game will go for like 3 yards per carry and Favre will be throwing short passes because the pocket will collapse in 2 or 3 seconds and he'll forget to use his feet and move outside to buy time.

On Defense, Lynch and Jackson will eat up 6 to 8 yards to give them a lot of 3rd and 3s or 3rd and 4s....they they'll convert. By the 3rd quarter, we will give up blitzing to try and stop the conversions, and this will give Edwards all day to throw, and he will continue to find a guy open for first downs. Once they realize we can't stop the 3rd down passes (if they don't know already from watching all our game film), they will start to pass on 1st and 2nd down. When Jackson comes in the game, we will commit to the pass, and he'll hurt us on the ground.

I hope I am wrong. Anyone got any strategies for beating these guys other than just hoping they play bad?

dont turn the ball over, play good special teams, stop the run, get 1st downs.

pretty much what you would expect would be necessary to win any nfl game...... well unless its the chiefs.

    Praying they play bad.

    Things we need to do:
    -Keep stopping the run.
-Actually apply pressure on the QB.
-Have a good day on special teams. When we don't, we lose to teams like Oakland and we'll certainly lose to Buffalo.
-Not try to outsmart anyone with our play-calling.

If Harris doesn't play in this game I don't think we have a very good shot at stopping there offense. We could try running a 4-3 but I don't think Barton is fast enough to play 4-3 MLB. If we go into Nickel, they will run all over us. If we stick with 3-4 they will attack whichever LB replaces Harris like the Chiefs did in the first half last week with a lot of success.

So, we have to win a shoot out IMO and be very aggressive at rushing the passer in passing situations. Stick with the 3-4 in run situations but blitz Harris' replacement as the 4th guy a lot.

Offensively obviously we need to minimize the punt passes.

Your brushing over some key points.

Not just a DE is out, Shobel is out.....he gave Brick some real problems last year and is a HIGHLY underrated DE IMO. Not having him in the game would be huge.

Their O line got exposed last week, and unlike your opinion that they will not let this happen again, I say that there is nothing they can do about it. Their line is banged up and what can they really change to fix that at this point. They pretty much just have to hope the line plays better. I think we can take advantage of that and show the Jills why we are ranked 2nd in the league in sacks! As always the key to this game is PRESSURE ON THE QB and we can do it this weekend.

Having a beat up oline will nto help their run game which has not been impressive thus far. The fact that you see them banging out 6-7 yards at a clip is not going to happen against our run D. (as long as 77 is in the game)

The only thing that is going to keep us down is Shotty and his outsmarting himself. We need to ground and pound, with PA passes. If its not working by the second half we can adjust the play calling, but that seems to much to ask of this coaching staff who seems to stick with what they are doing no matter what the result.

*See avatar to sum up what is going to happen this weekend*

Their Special Teams is as dangerous as ours, so it will be a field position battle all day.

Offensively, Favre should be able to do well against their CBs like Pennington and Warner did, but the TEs will be covered well. Going deep is only an option with the play-action. I think the running game can work if done off tackle, or if Richardson is the extra blocker. Stroud has done a good job in the middle, so neutralizing him is key. He is their Jenkins, but our Jenkins is clearly better. LW needs to be utilized to keep the defense honest. With his league-wide emergence as a gamechanger, the longer he is on the field, the more the defense has to respect him and watch out for him.

On defense, the run will be stopped, placing the task on Trent Edwards. Getting the sack, and applying no other pressure is not going to do it. He needs to hear footsteps all day, and limiting Parrish's underneath routes is key. I don't trust Sutton doing that, but I'll say it gets done anyway. I'd like to see press coverage so the front 7 can get the pressure and our CBs can hold their own with the WRs working to get off the line. Parrish will be the problem, not Hardy or Evans.

Some fun stats for Buffalo and the Jets.

    __________Offense_______________________________________Defense
    Team______Pts______Rush______Pass______3rd______Tovers____Pts______Rush______Pass______Tovers___Sacks
    Buff______23.6_____102.9______222______38.0______6_______20.4______99.3______203.0______12______13
    NYJ_______26_______115.6______215.9____40.0______17______24.3______82.6______232.7______14______24

Out offenses are similar except we turn the ball over the most in the NFL. If we do that this week winning will be very, very hard.

Defensively our weakness is obviously passing. Hopefully Buffalo will try to exploit our run D.

No stupid turnovers. With their D-tackle out, we should have success running the ball. Hopefully some of our TE's make the trip and actually play so we don't have to go 4 wide all the time.

The O-line and D-line must step their games up. This is the type of physical battle we have to begin winning. Tannenbaum specifically picked guys like Woody, Faneca, Jenkins, Pace for battles like this. Time to start producing as a TEAM!!!!

I agree with the guys that think that special teams could play a pretty big factor in this game. Both teams have solid ST units and whoever can win the field position battle i think will win in the end.

The past few games we have played against Buffalo have been painfully boring to watch. I expect more of the same, a lot of ugly football, and the game being decided by less than 7 pts.

Morman always kills us, that dude can punt. All we need is for a few ST plays to go our way and I think we take this battle.

Its probably been said before but didn't Flubalo almost lose to the Raiders also. I know nothing about that game except they won in the last seconds with a fiald goal by one point.

    My comnparisons:
Raiders = last minute feild goal decides both games (yeah, they got the W but I still call it a draw)
They blew out SD we lost to SD. We blew out ARZ, they lost to ARZ. (draw)
We beat miami, they lost to miami (adv jets)
They beat a terrible STL, we beat terrible KC (draw)
They beat a terrible SEA, we beat a terrible CIN (draw)
neither of us lost in the bye week (draw)
They beat a losing JAC and we lost to a winning Pats. (adv buf)

    looks pretty even to me.

The Jills are all hype. Everyone loves to hate on the jets. The 1 win difference in our records comes down to a 57 yard monster field goal in overtime in Oakland. That does not indicate to me that it will be "difficult" to see how we could win.

I don't have any trust in Jets O - I doubt if they will put up enough point, especially if the call is coming from Brian Schottenheimer.

So... I'll have to rely on Bob Sutton to not allow the Bills O to score more than Jets do.

Wait. It's a lose-lose either way. Damn it!
