everyone keeps saying we need a home playoff game ... if anything was learned last night its that playing at home on a big stage doesn't mean shit. We need a bye, not a home playoff game, and we won't get either this yr... heres to another road domination playoff tour...
had we won last night we would have been a good shape to get a bye, that is what made the loss so painful.
Putting the team aside for a moment, as a fan, I want to be there for a playoff game, and not have to drive 5.5 hours to Pittsburgh. That way, at least if we lose, its a much shorter drive home.
Playing at home is easier than going on the road. Any of those two scenarios is better than a 5th or 6th seed.
seriously... its so goddamn frustrating... I mean 2002 was a pretty fluky situation so we haven't outright won the division, or had a bye in a good 13 years
It's more about establishing some form of consistency and making that playoff run easier and more desirable. Sure, any team in the tournament can win the super bowl, we've seen several times in recent years where #5 and #6 seeds won it all. However, we want to see this team take it to the next level. For once, be the dominant team in the division. I cannot remember the last time we swept the pats in the regular season. Until we can unseat the Pats as the supreme rulers of the AFC East, we'll always just be fighting for that same old wildcard spot every year. Even the 2 runs to the AFCCG doesn't mean anything once you lose that game. As a fan, I'd like to be able to purchase one of those "AFC EAST CHAMPS" t-shirts at some point or another.
If we win a division title while Brady is still playing, there's a huge possibility we'll have a first round bye.
Wouldn't mind that at all but a home game would have still been nice. If we don't win in impressive fashion down the stretch, It's hopeless.
5.5 hours -- Well assuming a 5 or 6 seed - we would play the AFC South or AFC West champion...Texans have no QB so the Titans might make a run. Out west you have San Diego or Oakland. After that travel to New England again or to Pitt/Balt
I assume we will get the 6 seed again. But unlike last year I see Pittsburgh getting the 1 seed. Divisional Round could look like this: Jets-Steelers Ravens-Patriots
I agree, but someone did bring up a great point. Lets say we DID get the home playoff game, but didnt get the bye. We woulda been locked up to play either the Steelers-Patriots-Ravnes in the first round as opposed to playing the Raiders or Texans on the road. Of course now that Schaub is out, we would have been basically guarenteed a bye if we had won our division. Its to late now though, but then again their is 7 games left and theirs alot of parity so hopefully the Patriots blow a few.
Same. No matter who we play it wont be easy. Its all toss up games to me, I know for a fact if the Ravens matchup with the Patriots, the Patriots will be scared shitless, id be scared of the Steelers to. And imagine Jets-Patriots AFC Championship....oh wait im getting way to far ahead of myself. Lets beat the Broncos first.
beat the broncos first!! Please the Jets could never lose a mismatch game like this....oh the Jets...we play down to our opponents to make the games fun for our fans!
