Can you explain passing up Crabtree for a Troy Willamson part 2 in DHB and Mitchell in the 2nd round who wasn't even projected to be drafted or at worst a 7th round selection? And Al Davis wants to win 2 superbowls before he retires while Raiderjoe claims his team is headed in the right direction. Talk about delusional.
HAHA, their draft was a joke. DHB was a perfect pick for them - very good speed, very mediocre fundamentals...
for the record i was the guy who calle dinto sirious radio to discuss what we thought would be the biggest draft day shock. i crap you not, i said the raiders will take DHB. how could al say no!!!???
I think they took DHB too soon, but I like him as a prospect. I hope the people who hate DHB aren't the same ones who love Clowney, cuz DHB is Clowney with around 5 inches of extra height on him.
Shows how much you know. Clowney is 6'0 has very good hands. DHB is 6'1, maybe 6'2 and has mediocre hands. Show me how that is 5 inches of difference and the same player.
bye a clue, with all your gloom and doom. Clowny is 6ft... DBH is 6ft 1... remedial math is down the hall
DHB was the single worst pick of the draft. The funny thing is that a lot of people saw it coming haha.
that is the only thing that made me smile about this draft. i actually said well hey at least i am not a raiders fan.
I wasn't a big Sanchez fan going in but after watching his reaction to getting picked by the Jets you knew he wanted to play in NY. He knows if he plays well it'll be a ton of extra cash in his pocket. After I digested the Sanchez pick I watch the Raiders go DHB and nearly pissed myself watching McShay and Kiper slam Oakland.
Should have been Maclin here, just as fast, better route runner and better hands. Oakland will be a joke as long as Al Davis is owner. I never heard of the 2nd guy. I bet he was out playing golf or whatever and got a call "Um hey man.....the Raiders just drafted you in the 2nd round." Don't know if that's a huge ego boost or one of those things that makes you want to retire.
The Raiders War Room, Draft Day Factotum: Hey Al, we're on the clock. Al Davis: Didn't we cut a starter to save some cash? Factotum: Gibril Wilson, Saftey. Al Davis: Okay okay, stop shouting. No need to shout, my go-damn hearing aid. Take the guy who can play Safety who had the fastest 40 time. Factotum: But that would be a guy from Ohio U nobody's ever heard of. We could probably sign him as an undrafted free agent. Al Davis: Cliff Branch. Cliff Branch. Heyward-Bey is Cliff Branch....what Johnny? Did you say something? Factotum: Yeah nevermind. We just called in the pick. I think we'll regret this. Al Davis: You mouthin' off to me, you ungrateful bastard!? I'll kick you as- like I did to that prick ball boy Lance Kiffin. Factotum: Umm sir, Lane was our head coach, actually. Al Davis: Just win, baby. Just win. Commitment to Excellence.
I feel bad digging on Darrius Heyward-Bey. A friend of mine from college is friends with him, and I kicked it with him once. He's a great kid and has a down-to-earth personality that you don't really find in great athletes very often. He was dying to go to the Ravens, his hometown team, but I'm sure he doesn't mind getting selected 7th overall. That being said, I don't know if this was the right move for Oakland. There were better players available and more pressing needs to fill.
It was the wrong move, period. Monroe was there and don't you need to bulld a line to protect your #1 draft pick QB and need him to block for you #4 drafted HB? Davis has no idea what is reality and what is Madden for his 360.
