    Per Gary Myers:

"The Jets were ridiculed for accepting just a fourth-round pick from the Chiefs for Herm Edwards. Sources at the league meetings said that when the Jets first spoke to Chiefs president Carl Peterson about compensation, they asked for Kansas City's first- and second-round picks in next month's draft and $5 million. That wasn't well received by Peterson. The Jets lost their leverage when it became clear they wanted Edwards gone . . ."

    > i " borrowed " this from " another site " .

Wow this is crazy if this is true. I doubt it, but I would be happy with just their second round pick.

Thats pathetic if we originally demanded a 1st and 2nd but got only a fourth.

Herm totally messed up any leverage that we had and pulled a snake move. That was so shady what he did.

I would have been extremely happy with a first round but still very happy with a second round. We could have had herm gone AND had 4 top quality picks, not to mention early 3rd round. Oh well at least herm and bradway are gone now we know that the picks will actually be used for something that will actually help out team

I would take a six pack of budweiser and a bong hit to get that idiot off of the jets. I'm happy with a 4th.

"The Jets lost their leverage when it became clear they wanted Edwards gone . . ."

This may be so. In fact, let's assume the article is correct. But blame the snake, Herman Edwards, for queering the deal and lessening his value, not our FO. The article says the Jets "were ridiculed." Why would that be so? The Jets had no choice but to accept what they could get after The Sperm made himself a cancerous tumor we had to get rid of, then blabbed it all to the Chiefs.

But I look at it all this way... the Chiefs got what they deserved from this deal. They got Herman Edwards. And we got a 4th Rounder with which to move on. In my mind, we still got the better of the deal. The Chiefs go nowhere with this snake.

i hate to admit it, but maybe it was a smart move by Herm to eliminate our leverage.

think about it... he knows he'll be going to KC so he won't want to lose R1+R2 picks. he takes away our leverage so now that he becomes coach, he still can get good players in the draft.

in any event, i'm just glad we shipped him off and got what appears to be a hard-nosed,tight-lipped regime running things.

    cheers

I see your point, but also know that Herm has now made a name for himself among GMs and owners in the league. Even the Chiefs themselves have to look at the snake's behavior leading up to the trade and remind themselves, "Wow. This could be us (meaning the Jets) in five years." As careers go, most people get ahead on the strength of their reputations, and right now Herm's isn't worth a damn.

To make matters worse for himself, the excuses have already started and they haven't even played one game yet. All of a sudden, he "wasn't aware" of how old the team was. What? The man is a complete @sshole and the Chiefs are going nowhere. This is Edwards' last stop, believe me. By the time the Chiefs realize what they've hired and need to jetison Edwards, Herm will have played all his cards and exposed himself for the imbicilic weasel he is, and no team will touch this loser with a ten-foot pole.

Enough already with our 4th round pick for Herm. We should be glad we got anything for that waste of time. I don't care how many playoffs we went too. He was a horrible game day coach, 5 years from now (thats being generous) Herm Edwards will no longer be a HC in the NFL. Some day they will realize that this guy is nothing more than a cheerleader and doesn't belong running the sideline.

What goes around comes around. Herm's poor football strategy skills will eventually come through and sink the Chiefs. He is already making excuses. He will be outcoached on game day more often than not. May our fourth round become a super star and shove it in his face. We were perhaps too easy to critizise Hackett's offense. Any Offensive coordinator would have failed under Herm.
He screwed us in more ways than we know. Hope this year's draft by the Chiefs is an absolute bust, as well as their 2006 season. Then he will start blaming his coaching staff, let go of one or two, keep the old players too long, etc, you guys know the rest.

We lose a coach like Herm only to end up with a younger, smarter, more disciplined coach who runs the team without being a soundbyte. And all we get for this is a 4th rounder? Sucks to be us

Just be glad he's gone. He was like an infection on a digit. If you can't save the digit and it threatens to spread and kill you, ya cut it off.

We got a 4th for him so consider it we lost a digit at the small knuckle.
