Why are Jets playing with only 2 RB's on roster & neither of em' are true starter stature. Jets are really short-changing themselves not signing another RB to active roster. Why don't they try to sign Shawn Alexander or sign some RB off the practice squad of another team. Jets are making the game & offense harder on themselves. Shoot...They could of signed Lamont Jordan when he was cut & available. They really need a good all-around feature RB in the mix.
Can you please explain what is wrong with Thomas Jones so far? They have chatman coming back week 5 too.
Can't get in the endzone 3 straight times. I like TJ, but the fact is he's not a guy that can move the pile or go over the top. I watched the game last night and watched Westbrook go airborne and deliver the TD immediately after Desean dropped the ball and couldn't help but feel jealous as hell. I'm not saying there is a guy of Westbrook's ability out there waiting to be signed, but would it kill us to have a guy that can get one yard in that situation?
Does your t.v. work ? By week 5, Jets could be 2-3; or worse. Thomas Jones is ok, but defenses don't fear him 1 bit. It's hard for Jones to create on his own. -Here....who's beter Thomas Jones or Shawn Alexander ?
When Chatman comes back we'll probably have our goal line guy. The inability to get in the endzone there had as much to do with poor blocking and great defense as it did TJ's ability. He's been running very well so far IMO.
can't be 2-3 by week 5, the bye is week 5. We should be 2-2 at the least, with a bye and then Cincy-- that should be 3-2 right there.
My T.V. works just fine. For someone that wants this forum to be all about football, you sure do like to throw a lot of insults out there. So I'll ask you again, what is wrong with TJ's game so far? He can't create on his own? OK - he's not barry sanders. The guy is a downhill runner that hits holes hard and has been picking up good yardage on a consistent basis. He's not a game breaker, but he's a very solid every down back that will help this team a lot if he stays healthy and continues to run like he has. edit: At this point in there careers I think the obvious choice is Jones over Alexander. There's a reason Alexander hasn't even landed a spot as a backup.
Someone who claims to have so much damn football knowledge should know why we have not tried to sign Alexander. First off, due to the extreme lack of offers to him from around the league, its obvious that almost every one that gets paid to know football thinks he has little left to offer. Second, with the sum of 1.9 mill left in Cap space, do you actually expect to sign another guy who would want the kind of $$ he would?
The FO wanted McFadden (my opinion); couldn't get him. Agree that TJ doesn't create much himself. Still, he's running hard and he's solid. But, just dreaming about having McFadden instead of Gholston..., man, that would be nice!
If I may, In that goal line stand i was wondering why L Washington was not in there? I saw Tony R. in there at FB yet if I remember correctly he slid outside the formation before the snap and TJ did not run behind his block. I was wondering after the third try if Leon in the with TJ would have given the defense a little more to think about and worry about. I was also thinking that maybe Leon could have went in over the top behind TJ and got a score on the drive. I see folks are counting wins already, as in the Bengals in week 5, I agree we (SHOULD) win that game but till this team can start dominating other teams all these games are up in the air for me. We will face a very angry Chargers team Monday to be followed by the Birds at our house who looked very tough against the Fins Sunday. I know, I know, the Fins have a ways to go, but the Cardinals beat them the way we should have in the opening game. So I would not count that game either, I would not count any this season until they are played, less chance at disappointemnt if you as me...
Michael Turner would have been a nice pickup but you guys decided to splash the money in other areas. It's too late to pick up anyone better than you have now at this point. Alexander? Seriously? That guy's shot.
My post wasn't intended to be a knock on the Jets but rather on Alexander. But nah, you really can't compare the two situations anyway. Parcell's ass isn't on the line in the near future if he doesn't produce.
People buy into the 'weak schedule/strong schedule' BS preached by 'experts' in the preseason and think it is gospel. I thought we had a medium-strength schedule after looking at it in the offseason and now I'm leaning toward it being stronger than that in terms of team talent and their respective divisions becoming more competitive, but you never know, because teams play it one game at a time while most fans look at a schedule and think they can determine it's strengths and weaknesses at a casual glance. There is way more involved than most message board experts understand. If most fans realized the reality of their true understanding of the game and just gave their personal opinions and observations about what they saw, instead of ripping off a bunch of snippets from a bunch of 'experts' and acting like that was their opinions and observations... well, message boards, this one in particular, would be a hell of a lot more interesting and valid. BTW, the OP doesn't even know that Jesse Chatman is the third RB on the roster.
Dude....ur r unbelieveably...dumber than u look....lol How can a player out of the league on suspension until week 5....be the back-up RB. Now that seems pretty not smart 2 me. He's officially not a Jets' player until he's re-instated by the league & that doesn't help the team the 1st 4 weeks of season. Its not like they carried another RB...until he became available, which it seems like they need. Jets have shown a knack of over-estimating there talent level & thats not good.
