After carefully reading about and studying the draft since the end of the Jets' season way back when, I'm finally ready to submit my one and only mock draft. I'm not going to pretend that I know as much about late round prospects as I do about the guys at the top so I won't bore you by just ripping off some draft site's opinion of what's going to happen. I'm only doing round 1. Texans - Reggie Bush, RB Saints - Mario Williams, DE Titans - Vince Young, QB Jets - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT Packers - AJ Hawk, OLB 49ers - Michael Huff, DB Raiders - Matt Leinart, QB Bills - Haloti Ngata, DT Lions - Winston Justice, OT Cardinals - Jay Cutler, QB Rams - Vernon Davis, TE Browns - Brodrick Bunkley, DT Ravens - Jimmy Williams, DB Eagles - Chad Greenway, OLB Broncos - Chad Jackson, WR Dolphins - Manny Lawson, OLB Vikings - Ernie Sims, OLB Cowboys - Santonio Holmes, WR Chargers - Tye Hill, CB Chiefs - Tamba Hali, DE Patriots - Jonathan Joseph, CB 49ers - Kamerion Wimbley, DE Buccanneers - Marcus McNeill, OT Bengals - Donte Whitner, S Giants - Sinorice Moss, WR Bears - Richard Marshall, CB Panthers - DeAngelo Williams, RB Jaguars - Demeco Ryans, OLB Jets - Bobby Carpenter, OLB Colts - Lendale White, RB Seahawks - Ashton Youboty, CB Steelers - Nick Mangold, C
With the (well deserved) hype Davis has been getting, I really have a hard time seeing him fall to #11 at this point.
That's the thing--if the 49ers pass on Davis (which I think they will, Mike Nolan is a defensive coach who knows that the unit desperately needs an upgrade) I can't see who would pick Davis up until the Rams. The Raiders would flip a shit if they could land Leinart, the Lions are desparately in need of Winston Justice and the Cardinals need a QB even worse. The Bills very well could take him at #7.
There are some that believe that the Raiders covet Davis (possible). Also at some point BPA would come into play. I could be wrong, but something tells me that if Davis started to fall past say #7 or 8 I think Denver will desperately try to trade up.
I don't know about Denver, but I agree with you that somebody is going to make a move to grab Davis. I wouldn't be stunned at all to see the 49ers or the Bills to move down a few spots (quite possibly to the Rams.) Yes. If the Jets don't take him at #4 (which I don't think that they will do) neither the Packers nor the 49ers are going to be drafting a QB in the first round.
