I've been to Jerry's World a few times between work and football and I don't think I've ever needed to venture outside of the stadium grounds to have a great time. There are a bunch of local spots right near the stadium if you want to park and walk or Uber although the one time we Uber'd on a game day it was a disaster.
Have fun. Wear green. That is the week 2 uniform color. The Gridiron Uniform Database (gridiron-uniforms.com)
BA Uber before games is easy. After the games it is a hassle. So I will buy parking pass for one of the satellite lots and walk a mile if I have to. Any specific Sports Bar you liked? I don't plan to tailgate. I will just hit a sports bar before the game and head to the stadium.
Never been to any bars in the area, I just know there are some. There's a main road at one end of the stadium that has bars and other food options.
How far is your hotel? Last time I went, the hotel was right across the highway with a bunch of others. We walked back and beat my sister-in-law's Uber by 30 minutes.
Didn't book hotel yet as I can't decide if I should stay close to the stadium and pay a ton or stay a little away from the stadium for cheap and drive.
I guess it depends on your priorities. If you want to check out one of those bars outside the stadium you can wait out the traffic and have a leisurely cruise back to Motel 6 on the other side of Dallas. Just be aware that if the Jets win, you will be dealing with angry drunk rednecks in those places right after the game. The other option is spend that bar money on a better room across the highway and buy a 12 pack on the way home. There will definitely be drunk Jets fans at the hotel.
Went to Dallas a few years back when the Jets played. Stayed in Fort Worth and loved it. Lots of good Steakhouse and Tex Mex restaurants and good bars, caught a rodeo one night. True Texas experience. Fair amount of Jet fans around there too. And the Jets won!
Jets have had some memorable moments too......Revis pick 6 against Romo. Darnold post Mono (pre seeing Ghost) bomb to Robby Anderson. Would love to see the good times continue.
I stayed at the Sheraton Arlington last time I was there... it's an easy mile long walk through a nice lakeside park to the stadium. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/She...165!2d32.7479966!3e2!5i2?authuser=0&entry=ttu
There is a ton of stuff in that area. They have a bunch of bar restaurants. Texas live is basically attached to the stadium. The Las Colinas area is right there as well. Toyota music factory with a bunch of bars and restaurants. Tickets where crazy expensive I was thinking about going.
If you are looking to stay somewhere in a nice part of town about 20-30 minutes from the stadium look into Keller or South Lake.
