If Ryan and Idzik are fired? Doesn't that mean this season blame goes on Idzik? Since he gone after just 2 years? If that the case how can you fire Ryan? When Idzik hasn't done his job?
He's a casualty of 4 years without making the playoffs,if he had made the playoffs one time in those four years it would be a diffrent conversation
Please stop. Ryan did nothing the two years before Idzik. In 6 years, Ryan has had a handful of good games, games that we should probably have lost, but he coached us to wins. He's had dozens of games we should have won, but he coached us to losses. Much like the teams he has coached, he's inconsistent. Against the Pats or his brother, he brings a good game, any other time he doesn't show up... like his players.
I understand all that, but he hasn't given the talent to make the playoffs. Take last season all the experts thought we would be the worst team in NFL,but we ended up 8-8. IMO this year team is worse talent wise then last season.
Because it is not on Idzik. If Idzik id fired, Woody is cowering to the media and fan pressure. Our idiot fan base thinks that every free agent would jump at the chance to play for this dysfunctional organization, when in reality you probably need to overpay to get anyone to come to this shit show. They also think every draft pick is supposed to be an instant pro bowl player (see all the comments saying Coples sucks). The problem is that Rex should have been gone last year, by keeping him (which I am 100% convinced was Woody not JI), it sent the message that this team was going to be better and competitive this year -- which it was never going to be.
This team is not worse talent wise then last year ,Its def a much better roster then last season besides corner its better but not great by any stretch. The diffrence last year was the schedule and the fact that we caught a lot of lucky breaks in games that we didn't get this year. The murders row of QBs the first 6 weeks was to much for us to overcome even though we were in most of those games and should have beat Green Bay
Again even those 2 years he had nothing to work with on offense. People keep saying he failed to develop a QB. When he was hired everybody knew he wasn't a offense guy so that no surprise.
Yes this team would had been better IF Idzik would had got some CB's. All people keep saying is he shouldn't over pay for a player but that what he did with Decker and Harvin.
Ryan is being fired because he hasn't grown as a HC in the 6 years he's been here. He's inept at doing anything that isn't related to the defensive side of the ball. I was done with Rex after the Green Bay game when he wasn't even communicating with Marty on the final drive of the game.
Yeah but when you are Head Coach -- you are running the WHOLE team. It is your job to develop ALL the talent on the team by putting the right pieces in place within your coaching staff. While a lot of QB's have some natural ability , I don't think enough credit goes to coaching staffs putting young guys in the right place to succeed to get better and develop - because if they don't do that then the QB never even gets the opportunity to become a quality NFL QB. There is no guarantee that Luck or Wilson if given to Rex would be the QBs we see now, I would argue we more than likely would be calling them busts. My only defense is that this retarded organization forced Shotty on him in the same way they forced Rex on Idzik. The only difference is that Rex got a pass and was able to try his own guys where Idzik probably will not.
I don't argue that better CB's would have made the team better, but I don't think that would have translated into more wins...or enough more to save Rex's job. Big mouth is on the record as saying he can plug any players into "his" system and have it work. It would not surprise me if that is what he told Idzik.
Woody made a mistake in not letting Idzik hire his own coach. This is documented in multiple stories both then and today as to why some of the better GM candidates didn't even come in in to interview for the GM job. Woody cannot force the next GM to do the same and be stuck with Rex.
The problem with the Jets this year can be summed up by your blog name, Geno. They made the wrong choice for QB plain and simple. Rex always said that those decisions are made jointly, so he bares as much, if not more, responsibility as Idzik. Even so, performance as well as game management on the field is the coach's responsibility and this year's team has failed in both those categories.
That where I strongly disagree. If he would had kept Cro and sign Revis we would be in the playoff hunt. The Jets lost 7 games by one score and Denver game by 14 but you could say I score because Denver got a pick 6 late in the game on 4th down and Geno was just trying to make something happen.
What Rex going to say? It all Idzik fault he drafted the players? He didn't get me CB's? That not Rex's style he never throws anyone under the bus.
EXACTLY. Good point. But these are the Jets we're talking about, they rarely make the smart move, sadly... That's why I'm glad I have my fantasy football team, which just won its 4th league championship!
