Forget about D'Brick, I'm talking about trading up from Mangold's spot and getting him. I woulnd't have chosen Ngata at #4 but he is really making an impact in the Ravens D. Sometimes, you add 1 or 2 key cogs and everyone around them blossoms. I wonder if Ngata were in our 3-4 if DeWayne wouldn't be alot better player, ditto if we were playing a 4-3.
No chance wed get our hands on him, or at least we would have to give up alot of our picks to grab him. And besides if we were trading up it better have been for Cutler....though Chad is looking like a clear cut stud.
FWIW, I thought Chad would be OK this year and was against taking a QB in the draft very high. I posted here that if we got both D'Brick and Ngata, I'd do flips. D'Brick and Mangold was a nice draft, but I thought D'Brick and Ngata would give us guys ont he O-Line and D-Line thru 2015.
ngata might not have been available to us but I will say there is no question that the biggest need on this team is a NT
I was the guy on here touting Ngata over and over - especially based on the switch in defense. I suggested trading DOWN to get him, and up from the other pick so we could get Ngata and an Olineman or Cutler. The guy is a monster at NT!
i know size doesnt matter but next year the're all pretty light. kareem brown from miami is about 6-5 315 and a pretty good talent.( probably biggest to)
I'm completely happy with our draft. The first year in a new scheme is difficult. We will get the right people in the right places. I really like Rashad Moore. I like the big kid from Washington a lot too. Ngata was not without his question marks. He's had a nice run so far. Guys with prototypical nose tackle size are really not overly available this year. Amobi Okoye from Louisville, who is a senior at only 19 years old, would be someone worth looking at. He's got pretty stout size and his youth is attractive. -X-
i heard about okoye the other day and how he got recruited at age 15 or something. dont you have to be a certain age to be in the nfl? hes verry smart also.
The rule is 3 years removed from high school, so...but there have been 20 year olds that play, mostly the case is they were juniors that declared and have a later birthday, or something.
first, I dont believe theres an age limit in the NFL. I think its something more along the lines of you have to be X amount of years removed from HS. Hes definitely not a nose tackle, and I'm not sure about his speed. But I know he has amazing strength and work ethic. Aside from that, I've only read good things about the guy. He's from Nigeria, and moved to the States at the age of 12. At 12, he tested high enough to get into the 9th grade, which explains why he signed with Louisville when he was 15. He knew nothing about the sport and has picked it up amazingly fast. Saw limited action until last year. hes listed a 6 ft 1, 317.
you also got to think that ngata is benefiting from a vastly improved baltimore team. Now that they can score the D becomes scary again, like the way they were in 01
Would have been nice to get him but the combo of Brick and Mangold is going to be awesome for us once they become fully acclimated to the NFL and the line gels. IMO Rashad Moore is doing good at NT, they shouldn't put Robertson in there over him.
Hes been good, but he's got so much talent around him. that defense is pretty scary. remeber tony siragusa? he had like 2 good years in that same position. im not saying tony siragusa is bad, just pointing out that he's not doing it for the worst defense in the nfl.
I wish we had Ngata, but then again I also wish that we had DeAngelo Williams, Jay Cutler, Lawrence Maroney, Michael Huff, Donte Whitner and Reggie Bush. I'm happy that we got Ferguson and now I just have to move on.
