Chiefs fired offensive coordinator Mike Solari, line coach John Matsko, receivers coach Charlie Joiner, and running backs coach James Saxon. Kansas City has now been purged of nearly all Dick Vermeil era holdovers. Bucs QBs coach Paul Hackett, who coordinated the Chiefs' offense from 1993-1997, is a candidate to replace Solari. Solari was a good line coach, but struggled badly as a play caller. His offense finished 31st in 2007.
Hackett will do a good job especially if they get Chad. He is the one OC who new how to use Chad. With LJ coming back this makes a lot of sense. The Jets made the playoffs 3 times with Hackett.
Gee, WB, after saying you agree with me in the awards section I hate to do this, but I don't see it. As you have said many times, Chad is not the QB he was in 2004, let alone 2002, and it's very unclear to me that Johnson is going to be the runner he was. I don't really see the KC situation being any better for Chad than the Jets situation was, as their O-line is also falling apart.
I don't think it's a coincidence that our line fell apart after Hackett was fired. I can't see him not pushing us to keep both KMack and Becht. It was after Hackett was unloaded that we unloaded both of them. Hackett may not be clever at calling plays but he had a sound scheme and the team executed very well with him running the show. For all of Shots clever moves last year the team wasn't able to sustain it or maintain execution over a second season. I always prefer execution to being clever.
Because Coach Hackett is the master of carving out 4 yards in the flat... He just never gets beyond the 1st 10 yards sideline to sideline, and the 10-20 chunk down the middle, in his playcalling.

BTW My friend is a huge Chiefs fan and she showed me this article frm the Chiefs website that said the fans are at fault for the past 2 seasons in KC. "They need to reevaluate themselves". That's a good one even for a Herm team, lets throw the fans under the bus.
