Wayne Hunter article+ Full Story: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/05/jets_wayne_hunter_asserts_his.html Interesting comments/ developments: Wayne Hunter: "That's what I was, I was the weakest link last year," he said. "This year it's a whole different mentality, I played like a rookie last year and this year I'm playing like a nine-year veteran." Wayne speaking abt Tone, and Sanchez: "We came up to each other and I told him 'clean slate,' and he's been great," Hunter said. "Tone has been great. He's been doing extra stuff that people won't believe. He's been doing extra stuff with Mark (Sanchez), he's been doing stuff that he hasn't done in the past. He's been a team player, and it's been a good change." Joe Mcknight:"I just want to make sure I have some good weight on so I can last a pounding," McKnight said. "I'm not a wide receiver, I'm a running back. I put like 15 pounds on from what I was last year. I was like 197 at the end of last year but by the time we got back I started putting more and more weight on." Aaron Maybe: "That was obviously something we knew had to happen," he said. "If I was going to be an every-down player it wasn't going to happen in the 220's so we needed to see me a little heavier. Right now I've already put on a few pounds but I'm still looking to put on another five or 10 depending on how I feel." Maybin said he's hoping to come into camp at 255, and he's at 242 right now. Mike Devito and Coach Dunbar: "He has this long-arm technique that we've been working out there that is so effective, he showed us on film how it works in games and stuff and it's a great technique," DeVito said. "Just a different kind of pass rush move to create seperation from a guy, kind of like a stiff arm." I think these are interesting things in camp bcuz it gives you some positive insighton Hunter, McKnight, and Maybin. I think these players are going to lpay crucial roles and can improve drastically from last year bcuz we have seen flashes from them before. They are all potential starters, so having a new scheme, coach, and focus can give them the edge to play to their potential. What yall think...
Hunter: "I'm the starting right tackle and that hasn't changed whether people like it or not." Nice article, just the quotes, very little opinion on it since it would just be what we have already heard
It's easy to be all about team in the offseason workouts an whatnot. They were best pals during the lockout having their own practices and stuff. All that mean zippo the first time they lose and Sanchez doesn't throw him the ball....
Hunter had played well in the playoffs, but last season he was very inconsistent. It seems to be a mental problem imo, he has all the physical attributes to be successful. I hope the new regime brings him, and us success.
Man, you are always so negative, its almost like you dont want the jets to be successful or something....
Go ahead and put a wish in one hand and your dick in the other... see which one fills up first. I mean, why should anyone assume anything but the fact that if there's a repeat on the field of what happened last year there will be a repeat in the locker room of what happened last year? That's all he's saying, and it makes perfect sense. "Wanting" the Jets to do well shouldn't stand in the way of a cogent analysis.
There's new players, new coaches, and new philosophies this year. These guys learn from their mistakes, if they didn't they wouldn't be in the positions they are today.
I don't think it was so much that. Callahan was known for very complicated blocking schemes, so much so that at times people missed assignments. Sparano supposedly uses very simple schemes and everybody knows their responsibilities. I am guessing that will help everybody.
"They told me and I know that and it's as clear as mud" Awesome quote. Mike Tannenbaum. Keeping bitches in the dark since 1997.
Hopefully Vlad pushes him to his limits and challenges hin upright for that position. I'll be rooting for Vlad this offseason for sure. I just don't trust Hunter. He can say what he wants but the fact is he's 31 and he won't get much better at this point I believe. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
Who are you kidding. Its going to be Tebow time before the first kickoff. This fan base is ridiculous. My ears were bleeding in 2007 when half the stadium was calling for Kellen Clemens to replace Chad. The fans will be looking for Tebow even if Mark start his first drive 11 for 12 with a TD.
I think it's a little different, the frustration w/ Chad was he was always hurt and when he came up hobbling against Ne in week 1 of 2007 many cheered out of that frustration. Mark has helped us get to 2 title games in 3 years and he is still a very young QB. I expect there will be a short leash w/ the fans but I think it would have been that way w/ or w/o tebow. Let's just hope he and the O play well to start the season. reading all the stuff from yesterday I just have a good feeling about this year. I'm not saying SB or anything but it sounds like this team is angry and wants to prove last year was a fluky bad year. I expect we'll see a team much closer to 2010 than 2011. My biggest concern is RT and I hope Wayne w/ a full offseason and a determination to get over 2010 can be a solid RT.
