I can't believe some of what they were saying only 3+ years ago about our pick:

Sanchez likely a Top overall pick if he stayed in college another year and came out in 2010.....Don Banks @ CNNSI.com had him no lower than 10th in his mock drafts....

You're not gonna believe this review:

And this one will send you looking for a tranquilizer...or a gun:

I still say if he was handled better he could of been a good QB. An all offensive staff could of gotten the best out of Sanchez.

It just shows how difficult it is to truly evaluate a college Qb for the professional level.

The Jets had no clear #1 WR when they brought Sanchez on board. They never found a clear #1 WR in the years he was with the team. The one season in which he had 3 quality WR's, meaning 1b/2 level, was the one year that he seemed to mostly put it together.

I look at what other teams did with their high picks and what the Jets did with Sanchez and I'm really not sure if there was never a chance that he'd be good or if there was never a chance he'd be good given what he got to work with.

If this is true, and we are going to draft our franchise Qb in 2014 (hopefully), then do you believe the Jets should begin investing in a talented wr corps for him in this draft/FA?

Peyton Manning had Marvin Harrison on-board when he arrived. He got two WR's drafted 2 and 3 behind him in Pathon and Green. He had Marshall Faulk sharing the backfield his rookie season and Edgerrin James drafted in the 1st the season after. In his 4th season the Colts took Reggie Wayne in the 1st.

Ben Roethlisberger had Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress and Antwan Randel-El on-board when he arrived. The next season the Steelers drafted TE Heath Miller in the 1st and WR Fred Gibson in the 4th The season after that they took WR Santonio Holmes in the 1st and WR Willie Reid in the 3rd. In his first three seasons the Steelers drafted 3 tackles, 2 guards and 2 centers.

Aaron Rodgers had Donald Driver and Greg Jennings on-board when he took the field in 2008. That season the Packers drafted WR Jordy Nelson in the 1st and TE Jermichael Finley in the 3rd. They drafted 5 tackles and a guard in Rodgers first three seasons including a 1st rounder.

When you have a QB who must succeed or the franchise will fail you put as many resources into making that happen as you possibly can. You go overboard because if the QB fails the franchise flounders.

    Sanchez got via the draft

    Shonn Greene
    Matt Slauson
    Vlad Ducasse
    John Conner
    Joe McKnight
    Jeremy Kerley
    Bilal Powell
    Stephen Hill

the last 3 look like the only 3 with promise yet none are #1 guys

Our GM and Coach thought Tim Tebow and Tony Sparano would be good offensive additions.

That's all you need to know.
