I know we're tied with them but I want the Division and after Pittsburgh the Pats have an easy schedule. I hope they beat the Pats next week.

Wrap up the division 1st then worry about the bye, I agree.

    NO.

We control our destiny in the division right now so we need Pitt to lose for a 1st round bye.

As long as we keep winning we'll be fine but we need Pitt to lose.
Even if the Pats win, we control the Division.

The Steelers are more likely to fizzle out the last few weeks of the season than the Pats.

The Pats still scare the shit out of me and, of all the teams in the NFL, they are the team I would LEAST want to see the Jets play in the playoffs.

    Let's go Steelers!

Yeah, the fish didn't help us out this week. So we need to be on the Pittsburgh bandwagon next week. Pittsburgh's remaining schedule: NE, Dallas, Balt, Tenn, Cleve.
One of those teams will help us. We need them to beat Tennesee, though.

Would you rather play the Steelers in Pittsburgh after they get a week off
    or
Play someone after we get a week off here at home?

Root for the Steelers. Why would you want the Pats hanging around.

I would rather play any team in any situation than the Pats. I realize it's irrational but that's where I'm at right now.

If you're assuming the Jets are going to win out, then yes I'd rather play another team instead of the Steelers in the playoffs. But There are 5 games to go and I can't assume we are gonna win out just yet.

Not me. The Pats don't scare me right now.
I'm looking at the Big picture and I'm not going to fear them.

I'm looking at the route that gives us a Chance to win a SB and IMO that's a week off and a Home game.

Not an Extra game and a possible trip to Pittsburgh.

Let's see a win vs. NE gives them the #2 seed automatically with 4 games to go? I must be missing something here. They play 3 other teams with over .500 records(Ravens(win-win btw), Cowboys, & Titans) but they're nothing compared with giving the Jets a possible 2 game cushion with 4 games to go. I think we can live with them being 9-3 along with us if we win next week.

I agree. The more distance they get on the Patsies, the better. Even if the Steelers beat the Pats, I can still see 'em losing more than the Jets down the stretch. I'm rooting for Pitts.

I think you guys are nuts

Just like Mangini you are allowing the Pats to get in your heads and dictate your gameplans.... lol.

I can't help it but I'm thinking Logically here and rooting for the best path to get to a SB.

Assuming we're simply going to win out isn't exactly hardcore logic either.

LOL we're all rooting for it, of course we are. We are just not getting over-confident just as our team isn't. I know this is a new feeling for most Jets fans but it doesn't mean we should just throw realism out the door.

You're first figuring this out. Of course you want Pittsburgh to lose. The Jets should win the rest of their games and if the Steelers lose the Jets would have a bye. It's never a good idea to have to play an extra game.

The Jets just beat everyone's #1 team in the league, ahead of the Giants. Why is it crazy to think they can win out against a relatively easy schedule?

Can win out and will win out are two different thought processes. I know the Jets CAN win out. The question remains WILL they?

The Steelers are a very good team. You want that bye week. You've got to root for the Patriots against them. There's really no other choice. Barring an epic collapse the Jets are in the playoffs. You've got to try for the bye week so there's one less game on your path to the Super Bowl.
