When he got opportunities... rushed the passer well. Was close, almost got to the QB once or twice and finished off Ellis' sack.

Overall...Credit to the Jets front 7...Looks like teams will have a tough time rushing for over 100 on this Jets Defense here in 08!

I thought Gholston was pretty bad, he tried to bull rush the guy and has no shot...on one the sacks he came in a late and got Pennington, but that's I saw of him.

He forced pressure on the QB a couple of times and barely missed a sack.

    No.. He didn't play well..

He beat Jake Long once, but overran the QB.

He missed 2 tackles in punt coverage.

He had an EASY opportunity to disrupt the QB on Miami's first TD, but got shoved off the ball with relatively no effort by the RT.

He literally got manhandled every time he rushed the passer, except for the one time he ran around Long...

From someone with an Obama avatar, I'd expect more hope.

I didn't think Gholston did anything particularly positive.

Pace, Lowery, Wright, Cotchery, Favre, and Jones were the guys who really stood out to me.

Well keep in mind that the Jets lined him up on the line most of the game, which is not where he'll normally be playing for the rest of his career; it was hot, and a lot of those guys probably needed to be rotated out. When he lined up as a blitzing LB, you could tell that it was a lot easier for him to get penetration.

We already knew that he was too undersized to play on the line in the League and still didn't really look glaringly out of place. There was one flash where he leapt on Pennington and just couldn't drag him down, but he got great pressure. He still looks tentative, but as he learns, I think he'll be able to find paths to the quarterback.

At least IMHO it could have been a lot more discouraging than it was.

    Yes, him too.

    RE: your avatar
I was watching some of the JAX-TEN game today for Chris Johnson reasons.
Well, what did I see? Another big drop by Justin McCareins.

I saw Gholston dropping into coverage a lot. He definitely caused some havoc when they let him go after the qb. With Thomas and Pace combining for 3 sacks and plenty more pressures we don't have a pressure to have Gholston on the field for 50 snaps. I really expect him to be on the field mostly on passing downs for this season. It will probably take him most of the season to figure out how to play every down. Thomas and Pace both have great size, can play the run and drop into coverage.

I cannot take anyone seriously who has an Obama avatar. Stop trying to play politics on a football message board. Obama sucks just like the Fins do.

    Obama 08'!

    Anyway,

He didn't look "lost" like he did the pre-season...His sack was inches away and I wanted him to get it so bad. It's nice that when Thomas needs a breather, or Coleman...We got a speedy rookie to spell them...

Not good...But not bad. Solid performance.

^^ I don't really care if you take me seriously. I don't think anybody else on this board has a problem respecting my opinion on football related matters.... Where I stand politically shouldn't affect anyone's opinion of me in the NYJ forum...
