While Geno Smith threw the ball just 13 times on Monday, there was much more within his play that could be analyzed other than just what appeared on the stat sheet. Believe it or not, there was plenty of positives from the second-year pro, along with some negatives. At the following link, you will find a comprehensive film review of Smith's play, complete with stats, screen grabs from coaches film analysis and more. thanks for that article. I hope you stick with football coverage like you did here and don't turn into a tmz clown. aside from the missed blitz pickup it looks lime he was working from a very clean pocket most of the time. It's no surprise Geno's mechanics are inconsistent. he'll never be a consistent qb if he doesn't get his mechanics consistent.
It's ludicrous to judge or rate a QB's performance from 13 pass attempts. If he had thrown 13-15 more , how many more INT's would there have been?
SOME POSITIVES FROM A LIMITED ROLE - after reading that header, there is no need to read further. Sums everything up perfectly.
Still annoyed the gameplan never evolved to take advantage of the running game success. 2nd and 9 3rd and 9 3rd and 7 3rd and 2 3rd and 5 3rd and 5 3rd and 5 3rd and 10 3rd and 7 These were Geno's pass attempts before the 2 minute drill in the 4th. Besides the obvious fact of being predictable, two things really bother me: 1) No 1st down PA passes? No max protect and a deep shot? No screens? No plays to you know catch the defense off guard and take advantage of the expectation the Jets were going to run? 2) If you were so set on the running the football, trust it enough to run on 3rd down to get 2-3 and run again on these 4th downs which could have been shorter or the same distance: 4th and 4 from the MIA 20 4th and 5 at the MIA 30 4th and 2 from the MIA 27 There was no evolution of the gameplan. It was like a kid playing Madden. Run the first two downs, pass on 3rd down. Take no risks.
