Two Qbs that have moved on from the Jets to new heights in their careers. When I first saw Geno S play I said to myself 3 words "dumb as rocks" To Joe F I said another 3 words "washed up QB" Both of them are like reincarnations of Jim Plunkett ..no? I have some thoughts on this >>just better coaching and mostly better management. Right?? So what the F is going on ?...jus bothered by this
The cesspool that is the Jets. Saleh can spew all the nifty catchphrases... he just hasn't delivered on any of them.
Flacco has thrown 7 picks in 4 games. He does that here and it’s a different story. He’s playing gunslinger right now due to lack of a good run game.
Occam's Razor. The Jets simply don't know how to create a decent offense, or handle QBs, young or old. It's not a mystery. Decades of proof bear this out. Until they get and offensive minded HC, and change the organization's motto from "Defense wins championships" nothings going to change.
It's down to coaching, organizational mindset, and the fact that the Browns and Seahawks are organizations that are similar to the other 31 franchises in the league in that they are actually trying to win. They might not be necessarily good at it, but they're trying. The Jets are not trying. Yesterday's announcement that nobody is losing their job because of this season shows that they are content with losing. You don't get to claim that you're trying to win when you haven't done it in a decade and a half. If you had a baby the night the Jets played in their last playoff game, that kid's a teenager now. That's fucking pathetic and shows that this organization doesn't give two craps about actually winning. It's all just about counting the money that continuously pours in because the NFL is a monopoly where results have no impact on the bottom line.
It’s funny, I just finished watching Edoga and Van Roten in consecutive days both playing solid football. Fant and Moses too. Fascinating how many key position players went on to success after leaving.
The entire time Edoga was here I fucking screamed from the top of my lungs to put the god damn kid at guard and let him play in a phone booth. The Jets preferred to let him get roasted with no help as a rookie at left tackle. Low and behold, he’s a decent NFL guard. GVR is bizarre. He’s a stud now and it makes no sense. He got beat like a fucking drum here.
Scouting too. The Cowboys didn’t bring Edoga in as a fringe roster player to be a swing tackle. They brought him in to turn him into a good backup guard. The nitwits in this organization couldn’t see that he has a good base and push off that base but slow foot speed. They only saw that he played tackle in college so we’re going to round peg square hole him.
That is 100 percent on the money…the stupid fans feeding the Johnsons golden goose Woody the genius makes statements about how keeping the same crew of Rodgers stooges helps and it’s just about having a great QB Well the great QB tried to play behind the Joe Douglas Swiss cheese OL and got clobbered into the hospital Really harbor so much resentment against this Jets carousel failure….cant wait till Jets are done playing in 2023 season
Yeah, but they still took flight and flew past the graveyard. Rock Em Sock Em Robot and Thorazine Joe, I have nicknames for everyone
I remember Bruce Coslet's daughter carrying a clip board on the sidelines, and thought how much fun that must be. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Simple, boils down to defensive minded HCs that are incapable of selecting talented OCs , OL coaches and personnel evaluators that can spot OL and QB players with capability and readiness level at the position. Not to mention getting involved with the offense.
eh - I think you're giving them too much credit - Geno is an OK QB but really is nothing special, the definition of a "middle of the pack" QB (which is still better than anything the Jets have to be fair) and Flacco has been very up and down and behind the Jets line (instead of the Browns top 10 ranked line) he would get killed
Let's not get carried away. Geno Smith had one good season. This year, he's average. Joe Flacco has completed less than 60% of his passes this year. His interception percentage is a career high. Played like shit against the Bears but won because Fields played like ass. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
No offense but you may be overreacting a little. Geno got "good" 6-7 years after we cut ties with him. He's still only ok - much better than what we have but so is stale milk. Flacco is an old pro - given time and a decent coaching staff/system it's not at all surprising that he would be decent. It's not like he was a chump for years and suddenly is good now. And finally, in direct answer to you question: the Jets can't develop film, much less an NFL quarterback.
