If you were wondering whatever happened to Tajh Boyd he's in the FXFL which is a new independent league hoping to hook up with the NFL as their official minor league. This has been a very fast start up. They open tonight with Boston at Omaha. Tajh is the Brawlers starting Qb. Other leagues like the new USFL have been in a start up mode for a couple of years but still haven't played a game. Btw there's a New York team called the Brooklyn Bolts who plays their games at the Cyclone's stadium in Coney Island. They're offering tickets on their website for $25 which includes your game ticket, a cap and a $7 food credit. Not much on tonight so I'll watch Tajh vs Omaha. The 4th team plays all their games on the road. Btw only a 4 game season. Also on Espn3.
Why would they think having a minor league full of didn't make its will transform them into some NFL talent breeding ground? Exactly how many players have come out of the CFL (founded in 1958) over the years? Enjoy your career Taj.
Sending scouts to Canada frequently is pretty unreasonable, but if these guys are playing in your own back yard it's a different story.
The NFL used to have NFL Europe until a few years ago and quite a few good players were in that league. I'm watching the game and there is talent even though the players have only been together for about 2 weeks. Btw the players make a thousand a game. NFL Practice Squad players make over 6k per game.
Four of the CFL teams play on the New York border. The farthest stadium from the US border is Edmonton.
There's some good former CFL players in the NFL including Cameron Wake. The more football the better. If you like minor league baseball you'll like this league. Btw Jordan Jefferson is the Mammoths Qb but they just put in another guy who just threw a TD pass. They're substituting guys a lot to give them a chance. Omaha leading by 2 TDs.
The UFL wanted the NFL to pay them fees for players signed by the NFL off of UFL rosters. And there were a number of guys who were signed. UFL players almost revolted saying they were promised by the league when they signed that they would have an unencumbered path to the NFL. There were legal actions I think by the UFL Commish (who later had other legal problems) to collect these fees before releasing these players to the NFL but the way I remember it is he conceded to UFL players. As a side note when the league folded a lot of players accused their teams of not paying them for part of the season and owing them money. This league is being set up as an unofficial developmental league to the NFL. And their goal is to get an agreement with the NFL to be their minor league.
No. 95% of their players have been in NFL camps or on rosters. And they've all been college players considered to be prospects. Many of them from major conferences. Guys like Jordan Jefferson Qb from LSU.
Maybe they'll upgrade some of the cheerleaders too while they're at it. It looks like they have a few keepers.
I always wondered how much practice squad guys make.. This guy I played against in high school made it to an NFL practice squad a good 10 years ago and I remember the first time he rolled back into town with a brand new awesome escalade and he was acting crazy and was buying drinks for literally the entire bar like a high roller. I was thinking "I'm pretty sure PS guys don't make THAT much." Also, it's pretty fascinating that Boyd is going from being a 6th round pick in the NFL to a rag tag league making $4,000 for an entire season and playing in front of 25 people a game in less than 6months.. Ouch. He probably made more money at Clemson!!!
No I wasn't wondering what happend to Taj Boyd or our other 10 draft picks that are unacounted for.I guess they went awol. What a dumpster fire of a draft
Btw Tajh Boyd didn't have a good game. And his team the Brawlers got crushed by Omaha. The announcers said there was a good crowd but there were no wide camera shots of the crowd. And what you did see were empty seats. A surprise even though there was almost no time to promote the team or the league. In the UFL the Omaha franchise was pretty solid and drew good crowds. And they have a very decent facility to play in.
