"Marcus Mariota could experience a slide down the board on draft day. For the time being, he's experiencing a slide down Todd McShay's Mock Draft 2.0, as the ESPN analyst has him falling to the New York Jets at No. 6. "New York opted for a regime change this offseason, which brought Todd Bowles into the fold as the replacement for Rex Ryan. Geno Smith has had a rocky start to his career and McShay believes the team might look to begin again with 2014 Heisman winner." http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...hays-latest-mock-draft/ar-AA91Mrw?ocid=ASUDHP
All of the current NFL.com mock drafts (Zierlein, Brooks, Mariota) have Winston going #1 and every team ahead of the Jets passing on Mariota - In 2/3 we take Mariota with the 6th overall pick, in one we take Amari Cooper. Food for thought.
My thought is if Mariota falls to six, our new GM has to call Chip and gauge his interest. The Eagles two first round picks are the taget here.
I think we have a better chance of Winston at 6 to be honest. This rape case is not going away..he might not be getting charged but I think the release of the documentary will hurt him and when the media gets all over it he's going to have a tough time. This girl feels she's been wronged and I don't blame her for not being swept under the rug while Winston tries to becomes an NFL star. http://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/2015/01/26/jameis-winston-rape-accuser-goes-public/22350497/
If Mariota is there on the 6 it's going to be alot like the Gholston situation unless somebody slips up and lets a great player fall alongside him. The Jets are going to have to have a really good plan B in place to pass on Mariota. It's a perception thing. Billboards and all.
If this happens, Chip Kelly can shove it up his ass. I don't give a shit what he offers us. You draft Mariota
I actually think this is much more likely. Unless Winston completely blows away Mariota in their pro days, I just can't see TB taking the risk on Winston. I'm hoping the Florida connection is a weighty thing in their decision making process, I just can't see TB passing on the squeeky clean QB. _
Except Mariota could play and Gholston couldn't. That was a 5 player draft in a year we were drafting 6. He was the best option left at a position of need, but he really wasn't a very good and/or dedicated player. That's not the case with Mariota. _
- 3rd and 14 trailing against the Pats* in the 4th quarter with 8 mins on the clock. - Collins lines up as a possible spy. The corners play man coverage. In this scenario, is Mariota really the guy you want to try put a 15+ yard pass into a tight window? I would say "No!" and I wouldn't touch Mariota until the 3rd or 4th round somewhere. The kid is possibly more overhyped than Tebow was.
Bruh...WHY!?!? Eagles don't even have two first picks and they aren't going to be any higher than 20th pick next year if you give them mariota ... WE NEED A FRANCHISE QB IN THE WORST WAY. How long do you want to keep telling people "All we need is a QB" in sports debates with other teams fans. If he's there at 6 i would send Chip's bitch ass straight to the voicemail with a smile. Even if Mariota turns out to be a damn bust i'd rather that happen knowing this team is TRYING to take a step forward and not settle with what we can get like we always do.
I can see Mariota dropping to us if the titans pass on him and Jameis goes first. However, If Marcus Mariota gets picked by Tampa i don't see Jameis getting pass Tennessee.
Seriously?? Now he's drawing Tebow comparisons?? I would love to have Mariota in that situation, like you said, they'd probably have to keep someone in to spy him, which may leave someone else uncovered. Tebow...ha
Would I trust Aaron Rodgers his rookie season of the NFL? No! Unfortunately we don't have a Favre on this team nor have we shown any ability to develop the Qb position, but we do have an entire new regime, including Chan "Gets something out of nothing" Gailey. I think Mariota could very well become our franchise Qb if we draft him. Could he bust? Yes. But he's no Tebow.
Exactly and I actually think the bust factor is somewhere between pretty low to zero. He has too much talent, athleticism, smarts and work ethic to bust. I think his floor is Kaep. His ceiling is Rogers. _
dammit mcshay! just getting our hopes up could we draft mariota and not play him right away? i think he could use a year to develop. baack in the day everyone did. that went out of favor a few years ago with some big success from some young qbs but in recent years young qbs have really struggled. if this pipe dream comes true and we get mariota at 6, why not sit and let him develop and let geno smith endure the fire for another year. its a new regime they dont have to win in 15.
Trade it for Foles and their first. We'll be set with a franchise QB and still have a first round pick.
