...on paper, we shouldn't even be playing this game! http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/two_teams_share_special_connection_iqYZtOm3yGsJwgQydtrFjL *The Jets enter today?s game having beaten the Buccaneers in eight of the teams? nine meetings, including the last six. . . . Jets CB Darrelle Revis has five interceptions and an NFL-high 26 passes defended. His play has anchored a Jets? pass defense that ranks No. 1 in the NFL, allowing just 167 passing yards per game. The Jets also have allowed the fewest passing touchdown of any team this season (7). *The Jets defense has allowed 16 offensive touchdowns this season, and the Buccaneers have allowed 37. . . . The Jets own the No. 2-ranked defense in the league, while Tampa Bay has scored just 30 points in the last three games. *The Jets have held four of their 12 opponents to fewer than 10 points. In their six wins this season, the Jets have allowed 52 points. . The Jets have allowed 32 scoring drives (16 touchdowns and 16 field goals), which is the fewest in the NFL. . . . Their defense has produced the highest percentage of three-and-out series at 31.9 percent (44-of-138 opponents? drives).
And somehow the trump card always is the jets find a way to lose. Name a way, any way. Returns, turnovers, officiating errors. CMON JETS!! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!
That's encouraging to read, and I'm quite confident we'll run all over the bucs, but like they say, there's a reason we play the games.
On paper the Steelers should have beat the Browns. There is a long history of the Jets blowing games like this. With other playoff contenders losing, this game can set the Jets up to have something to play for down the stretch. That tells me we are teeing up an SOJ game. I am probably being overly jaded, but "once bitten, twice shy". Let's just hope they play like they are supposed to.
Freeman is the wildcard. Anytime a QB can get a 1st with his legs things can get hairy for the defense.
The Jets passed over Freeman for Sanchez in the draft....you don't think Freeman isn't salivating at the chance to stick it to the Jets? Our defense will need to play stellar today....our chances will live and die with them. you know my feelings on Clemens...so I won't even go there.
I actually don't think he's salivating at all...players get passed all the time and I don't think he took it personally. This game is really going to have to come down to our defense and run game....Luckily our 2 (league leading) strengths If Clemens can just manage the game I'll be thrilled with him... We have to bring it back to the Testaverde decline days. Just don't lose the game.
IF they don't take the handcuffs off Clemens and let these Bucs hang around I am gonna puke!!! They get the turnover and run on 1st n 2nd but why do you play for a frigging field goal and run on 3rd down????? Take these guys out early and do not let em hang around and let Clemens take a few shots!!!! 3 rd n 5 you have to try and make the first down!
All these defensive stats amaze me. We have statistically a good defense......so why are 6-6??? It's a reverse of 2004 and 2006 where statistically we never excelled in any one area (Martin personal rushing in 2004 being the exception) yet contrived to produce 10-6 seasons and make the play offs. This time around we appear to have all the ingredients yet can't convert that into more wins. Losses against Miami, Buffalo and Jax at home were all avoidable. Scary to think how close to being a 9-3 (or maybe even better) team we have been.
Sanchez's turnovers against New Orleans Couldn't stop the Wildcat against Miami Forgot to run against Buffalo, Sanchez threw 5 INTs Ted Ginn Jr. That should about sum it up.
