If he is so great, why isn't he a starting QB somewhere? Did he win a Heisman? Did he win a National Championship? Did he do anything in college? Wasn't he a 3rd round pick (and don't give me any Tom Brady BS)? Has he ever won an NFL game?

Somebody please sell me on Schaub because I just cannot stomach taking him and not drafting Leinart.

If he didn't have some sort of upside I don't think the Falcons would be so high on keeping him.

Unless of course they're playing up his ability (they've been high on this guy for a while though) because they know he's in the last year of his contract. You could argue they're just looking to hook some team into giving them a high pick before he becomes a free agent.

I'm not saying he's the second coming or anything, but he did pretty well from what I've seen in the short time he played. Remember, Atlanta doesn't exactly have the best recieving corp.

Also, the guy is big, young, has a good arm, and can move. I'd be fine with giving him a shot.

I am not sold on Schaub. I think he had one game last year where he lost, but came close to beating NE. That maybe where the interest is coming from.
I just don't like the trade. Abe has shown he can play on the field. Schaub has yet to demonstrate that.

The more I think and the more I read, I am really starting to favor by-passing the FA QB signing and just taking our chances in the draft at #4. Not that the guy we get will start, but after grooming could be ready toward the end of next year.

He doesn't start because he has Michael Vick in front of him who would never be benched because he is the leagues golden boy. Also Gino Toretta won a heisman just because Schaub didn't win one doesn't mean anything.

Honestly though I don't know much about him except that he played well against the Patriots which a lot QB's do the first time around. I don't mind the Jets looking into him though because there is no guarantee we can get Leinart. We still have to make a move to get Leinart and theres always a chance we can miss out. Obviously the Jets have scouted Schaub and they like what they see. Not all Qb's who are good have to be first round draft picks so sonce he's young and has potential I would be willng to give him a shot.

Just a minor, very minor, observation; I love the Leinart Jersey avatar, but you have to change the 0 on the left back of the sleeve to a 1. That may be tough due to the rotation, I don't know..............

im on the fence about leinart but it looks like you need to put a saddle on leinart before you ride his dick.

for starters....hes not starting for another team right now because the falcons know hes worth keeping if Vick goes down. taking this into mind they would only accept a deal in their favor to let him go.

Win a Heisman? HA! Maybe we shouldve drafted Jason White 2 yrs back right? Heisman means nothing..........

Did he do anything in college? Sorry this isnt as impressive as Leinart's padded stats in a conference with weak defenses but here:

Schaub owns virtually every major Virginia passing record including career passing yards with 7,502 and career touchdowns with 56. Named the ACC Player of the Year in 2002 , the 6-5, 240-pounder threw for 2,952 and 18 touchdowns this past season

Oh and him being a 3rd round pick? I dont need to tell you about Tom Brady I could tell you about Hines Ward or our own future HOF Curtis Martin.

seriously lol i dont blame you for questioning schaub but to subliminally name leinarts accomplishments for motive to discredit schaub is completely one-dimmensional thought.

I dont care for shuab either. THis guy was a third round pick and is pplaying for a good team in atlanta. It reminds me of that philly quaterback a few years back. I forget his name but i do remembr the dolphins blowing a second round pick on the guy.

So you all hate Schaub because he's unproven? The guy was a 3rd round pick, and he probably should have been higher. I loved Schaub in college, but you all act as if Leinart is a sure thing. Abraham is gone, folks. If we can get a mid-2nd rounder and Schaub for Abraham, it's a heist for us. We're not getting the #9 pick, so just end that dream now.

Schaub, in my mind, is a first round talent.

AJ "touchy feely", as far as schaub goes, he will be a starting qb once he leaves atlanta and I for one would love to have him here. Remember that he had his best game this past season against the pats when he threw for 3 tds and almost had 300 yds passing, the falcons did lose the game to the pats and of course we know who was coaching the pats D that day. Our new coach so he got a 1st hand look at schaub and am sure he was impressed that day too. I would rather have him instead of ramsey.

Exactly. The one time he did play, he had a mediocre at best receiving corps, and had a very nice game passing. If you ever saw Schaub play in college, you know he's not AJ Feeley.

That reminds me of the guy who said (a few weeks back) that it would be stupid to draft Vernon Davis because none of our first round tight ends have panned out.

If you don't want the guy that's fine. But give a valid reason instead of basing your decision on that type of logic.

    Good thinking -

We shouldn?t waste our time on anyone who didn?t win a national championship, a heisman or a superbowl.

I will say this about Schaub; he could come to NYC and open a micro-brewery and make a friggin' fortune, especially if he actually was good on top of that. Schaub Beer; I think shadetree#55 might even try some.

I think the reason ATL wants to keep him so bad is because he (Schaub) knows their offense inside-and-out and is capable of executing their gameplan from the bench. Mike Vick is one solid hit away from the IR everytime he scrambles, so Atlanta wants to keep their insurance policy intact or get very high compensation in return. All they have to do is look to at the Jet's season last year to see what happens to a team when the #1 QB goes down early and the #2 (or #3 in our case) just isn't ready.
