Flozell to be UFA

    COWBOYS TAG HAMLIN

    With the deadline for using the franchise tag looming at 4:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, the Cowboys have used theirs on safety Ken Hamlin, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network.

    Hamlin signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys last year during free agency. He started in every game, and had a career-high five interceptions.

    The move might have been prompted in part by the decision of the Vikings to cut safety Dwight Smith, since the Vikings might have pursued Hamlin aggressively in free agency.

    The use of the tag on Hamlin also means that left tackle Flozell Adams will become an unrestricted free agent.

    That's good news. Due to his age a short term contract could be possible. Man, then go grab Bell.

    So a team can't use both the franchise and the transition tag?

    That would be like 'limit one coupon per purchase'? :grin:

    Actually I don't know. But I couldn't see that being fair.

    Per Article XX, Section 3(a) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, a team can't use the franchise tag and the transition tag.

    this guy would be great, I think him and Faneca would be great veteran presences that could hold down the fort for a few years. I didn't put Bell in the conversation because I think he will be resigned. If we get Flozell and Faneca watch TJ be a 1400 yd rusher.

    That, of course, changes in the last year of the agreement. But that's a whiles away.
