I tihnk the media is jumping on the wagon a bit early (let's see what they say if we get spanked next week), but it's nice to see they're finally paying attention. All we've heard this offseason is that we don't have an Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Suggs, etc. That may be true but it's not like we're putting garbage out on the field either. We've got the tools to put together at least a top 10 defense if the players are used correctly. And Rex/Pettine seem to be the guys capable of doing that. Again, I'd like to see a few more games before jumping the gun on anything, but the potential is there and has been all along.
NO!!! I like being the underdawg! I like when the reporters dis us because then people realize how FOS these prognosticators really are.... There are only a few people who actually do research, and go by what they see and also admit when they were wrong. Simms & Esiason.... How fitting is that? Sure there are a few others but realistically most of the sports media is a bunch of FOS bandwagon jumpers...Whos Hot Whos Not and they change every week!
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Remember when we were 8-4 after beating the Pats and people were making reservations for hotels at the SB?
I'm not getting ahead...It is just nice to, finally, see a small modicum of respect. Also, if these guys aren't talking playoffs then I don't want them as players on my team. As far as I can tell that is the goal right now. Yes, focus on each game, but the goal is to, as Champ always puts it, win a Superbowl. So I'm cool with at least one writer giving us a small bit of props. Peace!! The Mezz
a big part of that was Favre's injury. Yes I hate him but lets be honest, his hurt arm was a huge reason for how awful he was and why we crumbled. jenkins wore down on defense and our rush D suffered. our secondary was awwwwful! we put no pressure on anyone. this year it will change! we may indeed lose this week to the pats but I predicted 10-6 or 11-5 before the season and I stand by it.
I was really impressed with the whole team effort this past week. That being said, I am waiting to see the results of this weekend. If we play another complete game and get a solid win over da Pats, then I will start getting carried away. Im sure I wont be alone.....
I believe we'll be getting lots of respect by week 5. But it will be from our opponents, not the media.
Reminds me a lot of the hype after the NE and TEN wins last year. Jets haven't accomplished anything yet.
I'm just glad I officially called 11-5 before the season, because we are gonna lay mother fuckers OUT
Charles Robinson is either a very brave man or a fool. Maybe he's a very brave fool. The Jets take sports writers like him and chew them up and spit them out onto the pavement all covered in saliva with their dignity in tatters. They've gotten so good at it that they nabbed Don Banks last year, and he not only is usually smarter than that but he doesn't like them either.
It would be just like the Jets to have us all worried all season about how things were going to go wrong and then go win the Super Bowl with most of us only half-believing it as the final whistle sounded.
