rodboone Brick on what Sanchez contract extension means: "That’s our guy. We’ll find a way for #Tebow to compliment whatever we have going on."

ConorTOrr Officially relinquished my Scranton roots and became a New Jersey driver today. Going to celebrate by getting stuck in construction on 280.

rodboone Brick: "It’s going to just be a compliment to whatever Mark does. Tebow has talents & we hope to benefit from that in some form or fashion"

JennyVrentas Ferguson: "But I think the intent or the hope is that it will be a good complement + that’s all we can set our sights on at this point" #nyj

Brick should be the only Jet allowed to speak. Allothers are guaranteed to say something dumb

how the hell does "Rex said 20 plays a game" run opposite to what Brick said, and thus the "but" to qualify it?

Tebow can have 20 plays a game that compliment Sanchez.

Its not like he said 20 plays a game at QB either. Who knows if we have Tebow lining up at other positions. I seriously doubt we run 20 wildcat plays. Truth is we won't know until the season starts.

20 plays a game is 40% of the snaps. That is NOT a compliment. It is having 2 QBs a 1 and a 1A. And it will be a gigantic failure. Tebow should play ZERO- 3 snaps a game at QB. Not 20

Based on last season, Tebow should take the entire first quarter and then hand over to Sanchez.

Who says those snaps have to be at QB? He could be in at 5-10 plays as a QB in the Wildcat (or some other direct snap formation). The others could be as a HB, FB, or TE. We have to wait for the season to start and stop assuming.

This has been bothering me. Rex DID NOT say that, he said that Tebow could be used in anywhere from 1-20 snaps per game thus keeping defenses guessing

People are clinging too hard to this "20 plays a game" comment. You have to look at it in its context--he said "we might do it one play, we might do it 20 plays", kind of threw it out there. It wasn't a hard commitment to 20 plays a game, it will depend on who the opponent is, a lot of factors. You can put Sanchez under center, line Tebow up anywhere else, put him in motion, all kinds of things. Rex is going to have fun with this.

He didnt actually say 20 plays a game he said it could be 20 plays a game or it coud be 2 plays a game depending on how it works against certain team.

Regarding the bolded part, it is my understanding that Tebow has never played any of those positions. For Denver he was the Qb, and the Qb exclusively.

THat being the case, what makes you think Tebow could play any of those positions, let alone all of them?

Would love to see them do a little old school trickery in addition to the wildcat/spread stuff.

    Lonesome polecat anyone?

    See below

If T2 is lining up in single wing and WC formations on 20 snaps a game, then it will be an epic failure. However, I doubt Rex & Sparano will be doing this cause after a couple games its effectiveness will drop significantly.

If T2 is lining up at HB/WR/TE and is effective, he should be in for 50% of the snaps on offense.

I hated the move but now that he's here I am trying t be optimistic about his use. I'm sure there are some serious gadget plays that can be brought up. If Gronk and Hernandez took simple hand offs for runs, imagine what this kid can do, especially if he actually learns how to throw the ball.

We know he can carry the ball. We know he can take a hit. Its been suggested by many when he came out that he should convert to TE to be successful in the NFL. We do not know if he can catch. That's the caveat at the TE position.

One pass from Mark to T2 from the TE position will make D's think twice every time he is on the field.

I am going to assume it takes the same motor-functions and skills to take the snap and run the ball as it does to have the ball handed off to him and run the ball.

it also will take the same motor-functions and skills to line up as a RB and have the ball snapped directly to him and run it as the RB as it would to line up as the QB and have the ball snapped directly to him and run it.

so there are multiple ways he can be used within an offense that compliment Sanchez and are just additional weapons for Sanchez as a QB rather than as the QB under center. the entire point of playcalling and personnel is to keep the defense off balance and not know what you are running. having Tebow on the field, either as a QB or in a non-QB alignment can do that, benefits Sanchez by being able to take advantage of the defenses uncertainty when he is dropping back to pass it. having Tebow with Sanchez doesn't mean Sanchez becomes irrelevant. Tebow becomes essentially a play action pass - the threat of a run to open up receivers. but a play action is useless if you don't actually run the ball every once and a while.

I agree they aren't going to use him as a TE which would mean to block or catch passes, but they could easily line him up as a RB or FB and have him perform in essentially the same role as he did as QB in Denver which primarily was just to run the ball. clearly how he played QB isn't exactly how the QB position is used by every other QB in the league, so you can't simply say he was a QB and has never performed a role similar to non-QB positions.
