Jones: 6'5" 302 Pounds 4.97 and 4.95 forty 4.58 Short Shuttle 7.81 Three Cone Drill 31" Vertical Jump 9'6" Long Jump Better numbers here, except for the Three Cone Drill. I like sticking with Jones at LT. D'Brick is a waste of a pick. Like rhymin' much?
Got the info here:http://www.packers.com/news/stories/2004/04/16/1/?draft_nav=1 Has the other drafted tackles that year as well.
What so bad about wanting to see there #s...i know it wont tell you who is the better player.. but it did tell who is more athletic.
It makes no sense to take Ferguson with our #4. We have our LT of the future on the team. We have to many other needs and there are other players rated with equal or better value.
Jones' only glaring weakness coming out of college was his inexperience. Really, last year was the equivalent to him being a 3 year starter at LT in college. He has all the tools, and should be expected to be a very good LT for us for years to come.
I'm sorry, but numbers do not matter for OL. Basically, what it comes down to is : 1. Can you block? 2. Are you MEAN enough?
When the hell does an OT run the 40? maybe a 10 yrd dash is better but they dont have it. Where are the bench press numbers. and other lifts?
Those are measureables and the comparison of those 2 players is the proof that numbers are just a factor of on-field performance. Plus you didn't mention the arms length of Ferguson, he has the arms of a 7 footer... No way would he be a waste, he'd make an immediate impact and be one of our best O-linemen, if not the best.
I am not a fan of Drick but A Jones had a great combine. Its probably not the best comparison. DBrick is a little overated though.
D'Brickashaw Ferguson is the best tackle prospect since Orlando Pace. I know its not a sexy pick because linemen dont catch td's or run for a hundred yards or throw for 30 td's. Also because the Jets may look at Nick Mangold later in round 1 and that would mean we would have taken two o-linemen in the first round. Also you cant really know if it was a good draft unless you pay attention to them but I would love to take him and build a mean streak about the Jets. When I met Marty Lyons at the beginning of the offseason he told me about how he wanted us to take Ferguson to bring a dominating demeanor to the team. At 6'5" Ferguson is a man child who can anchor the line for years to come. People may look at the reps or shuttle time or 40 time but you cant measure intangibles such as heart or attitude. The best teams in the NFL have those mean nasty guys in the trenches who like to take their gloves off and get down and dirty. It would be nice to get a skill position player but I want Ferguson unless we trade up to go get Leinart
Thats so much BS its not funny.. D brick isnt in the class of pace, ogden, coming out. those gus were dominant in college. those guys had a mean streak
Just my opinion but I think he was dominant in college. Pro scouts have labled him in the class of Ogden/Pace not me. And to say he doesnt have a mean streak isnt very smart being that you have nothing to base that on
every yr the top guy is compared to Pace, Odgen, Walter Jones ect. ect Jordan Gross was supposed be the best value pick in the 2003 draft but he didnt play LT for the 1st 2 yrs(I havent checked does he play LT? He might have moved but I am not sure) and Gallery hasnt quite been dominant Bryant Mc Kinnie and Mike Williams were supposed to be 10 yr All-Pros also. DBrick is good but most value boards have Bush-Mario Williams-Leinart ahead of him. If those 3 are taken I guess DBrick would be my pick. But some reason the Jets will take Cuter. DBrick is nowhere near Pace thats laughable. I wish we never traded down in that draft I loved Pace.
