I think come draft time, we will go predominantley defensive, with NT/DT , DE (again), CB and possibly FS being high on the agenda.
Anyhow, the gaping holes on offense, other than some of the line is at TE and WR, does anyone have an idea who will be available and would be a nice fit for us?
Interestingly, Brandon Marshall and Tony Sheffler have fallen out of favor in Denver, possible targets??

More than anything this team needs a slot receiver. They have nobody that has that talent atm. The Jets are set @ 1 and 2 if you ask me. Edwards for all his drop problems looks like he wants to play here, as he does many of the little things, like block well. Cotchery is Cotchery.

I think the Jets can skip the diva. (Marshell)

Then they may be able to get a blocking TE that doesnt get penalties at inopportune times and lose games.

    WR?
We have BE and J-CO along with Brad Smith, who's coming on so i don't really see a WR being a priority. Especially a big money guy like Marshall.
A slot reciever would be good like the above poster said but i think if Keller gets more involved that'll negate the need somewhat.
TE will be a blocking type guy.

O-line is a high priority if you ask me.
Faneca did not deserve the pro bowl nod and Woody is getting up there so i would think some depth there would be high on our list.

I'd much rather add one or two young offensive linemen, either through the draft or free agency.

If next year is uncapped, I'm sure Tanny will try to get Brandon Marshall. However, it's going to be hard to keep both Edwards and Marshall happy contract wise and also with the number of receptions they get.

I think we should spend FA and our draft picks on OL and Defensive front 7, mostly DE, DT, OLB

See, although we have the #1 rushing game, I can't help but think that we will use 3 WRs alot next season, which is where we need another field stretcher. Sorry, but Brad Smith, although excellent is not that guy. Clowney could step up, but has shown little so far, which is why I think WR is going to be high as a priority. Sanchez needs more weapons.
Funny, when I said we needed another TE, I was actually thinking more along the lines of another TE to compliment Keller as a more receiving type, rather than blocking. Although we need as good blocking TE as a matter of urgency. The problem with Keller is that Ds often lock onto him when hes on the field, especially on 3rd & 5+ situations, and despite having great hands and toughness, theres only so much he can do, (not the biggest).

Jets offense needs an effective OC first and foremost. Slot receiver can be had, if Keller learns to split in the slot (like he showed in a few of his college day clips) Instead, Jets need a true #1 TE that can block and catch. If Jets can find such a talent, I wouldn't mind seeing double TE set or I formation Big as the primary offense play set.

Now, that aside, Jets also need:

    1. NT, DE

    2. OG, OT, Backup OL

    3. pass rushing OLB (that Ghost was supposed to be, but never lived up to be.)

    THEN

    4. Pass-catching RB. I don't think Leon will be effective after he comes back.

The fact Brad Smith is a factor on returns and trick plays doesnt mean he's getting on as a WR. His route running may still be sloppy and he could still very well drop many passes.

A TE like Scheffler or a slot WR are both options and I'd be fine with both...

I'd love to have Brandon Marshall if we could pick him up without neglecting our primary needs I'd be all for picking him up.

I think the o-line needs depth and the team could use a good blocking TE but, otherwise, I think the players on offense are solid and that they should concentrate on D in the off-season.

if we made no major moves other than bring in a big time CB and legit reserves on the DL and OL (especially at end — how many more starts can we expect out of Douglas and Ellis?), I'd be content. Anything else would be gravy.

This teams sole primary need is a pass rush. Nothing else comes remotely close

I just heard on ESPN that in an uncapped year, the top 8 teams will not be allowed to sign free agents unless they lose free agents. So, if the Jets win this week and next week they may not be able to go after free agents.

EDIT - Just found some more info on this on NFL.com:

Although I was one of the people that said we need a slot wr, it might just be that Sanchez isnt going through his progressions so hes not getting to the WRs in the slot. So he makes it seem like we need a slot guy when we might not. And we all know shotty has horrible schemes so lets just wait it out.

Steve Breaston is a free agent. He could be a good fit, especially since he's better returning punts than Cotchery or Leonard.

This site has the free agents listed (Significant and insignificant)
    http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/features/freeagents/fa.php?y=2010

I don't see a big WR being brought in since this team is committed to the run... I think an earlier/mid round pick or a mid-level free agent is a priority, but I don't expect Vincent Jackson or Brandon Marshall..

As for a TE though, I could see a guy like Tony Scheffler being signed..

If we can get Marshall or Jackson our WR crops would be complete. Marshall/Jackson-Edwards-Cotchery with Leon Washington back along with Woodhead as a backup

Also, just because were committed to the run doesn't mean a top WR can't be signed. Imagine our running game if we signed Jackson or Marshall..
