Since were supposedly scheduled to lose a lot of talent at the DB position, what do you guys think about signing or trading for a big name corner to compliment Revis, like Robinson from the Texans or someone of that caliber.

Any thoughts on how you guys would feel about trading Rhodes for a pick(3-5 rounder) and a solid corner?

Eh, we're in trouble if we lose Shephard, Rhodes, and Strickland.

I disagree. It would be the Jets decision on all 3. If they felt they were that important they wouldn't let them all go.

Thats what im saying, we could trade Rhodes (depending on what is said tomorrow) for a solid corner and pick up a safety in this uber talented draft class, can you say Taylor Mays?

Sheppard sucks, Strickland doesn't play 60% of the time, and we're all done with Rhodes. So not only do I not see any trouble if we add the right personnel, I think we will improve.

I don't like "big name" CBs. I want a solid, versatile one. The big name ones are usually the fast ones or ones with stats, that let up a lot of big plays.

Cromartie is a play making corner , but he needs a serious pass rush to be effective

Not saying i want him (even though he'd serve well) BUT for those who may feel the Jets need him if your worry is with his pass rush effectiveness Rex can moderatley fix this. As he did with Eric Smith, Strickland(tho he was a playmaker) and Lowery as Above average Pass Rushing Secondarys this past season.

Strickland isn't bad if he can stay healthy - which is his main problem - otherwise he's a decent #2. I really liked Poteat. Thought he did well when he was hear. Nick Harper had a decent year...

    IDK...

I don't like the idea of just "blowing up" the secondary after one bad game. We had the #1 pass D in the league, however, we do need to make some changes or we'll never be able to compete with the dominant passing teams in the NFL. Strickland was good, I don't see why he should be cut? Lito... I thought he played well all season when he was healthy, really shocked at his benching in the AFC title game and would like an explanation about that. I liked Sheppard as the #2 and thought he got a raw deal, but he probably won't be back. Rhodes is a wildcard, I dunno wtf his problem is, but if he wants out fine by me. We could use a heavy hitter out there; Rhodes hasn't made many big plays the last couple of years outside of @SD two weeks ago.

No way we'd get a 3rd rounder and someone of Dunta Robinson's caliber for just Rhodes. Even a Rhodes for Dunta straight up seems far fetched. Just give us the 3rd, or even multiple late rounders; this draft is deep in talent and we need the depth.

Why not? He has had great seasons as a Jet, even before we became the number one defense in the league. Rhodes also picked his game up several notches at the end of the season, he showed he still has a lot of potential to be a good/great safety for some team. I don't think it is completely out of the question, but who knows.

Fabian Washington played for Rex with the Ravens, but he is a RFA and not much of a ball hawk, we will have to see what the Ravens offer him. Robinson is probably the top UFA CB out there.

I always felt we were vulnerable with our #2 cornerback though, especially since alot of teams have pretty solid #2 wrs.

I mean both times when we played the pats their #2 WR absolutely smoked us. Think Welker had like 200 yards when he played us.

The jets didnt play alot of great passing teams this season (houston, new orleans and new england were the ONLY good passing teams we played this regular season) so our secondary didnt have too many problems.

But Rivers had almost 300 yards and Peyton almost 400 vs us in the playoffs, and a massive chunk of them came on our secondary cornerbacks. I think if we get a good secondary cb we could completely shut down even the best passing offenses.
