Legarrette Blount Oregon U 6'4 245lbs-250lbs some where in there.. This guy is a monster Scored 16 Tds In 08... He might be the next Brandon Jacobs caliber style of Runner... We need that Big Back, I know we have Shonn Greene But the Giants worked a three headed monster at one time... And with him we could take alot of pressure off of Sanchez... Take a look at the Highlights.. I was impressed! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82cWHFN_YKE
wow I saw that one where he jumped over that guy that is crazy crazy and then he breaks another tackle dayum
I've been a big advocate for Blount on these boards - it was a bittersweet moment for me when we drafted Shonn Greene because it all but ruled out the move of drafting Blount next year. Blount is huge, 6'4, 250 lbs and has breakaway speed, bulldozing power and shifty moves (every knows the leap he pulled off). I'd love to see him in a Jets uniform. With the new approach teams are taking to their backfield - by committee and not needing to use an early draft pick - it is hard to project where running backs will go, even ones as talented as Blount. He could go as high as Top 15 or be a mid-2nd round pick, but then again it's only June.
Blount is a tough hard nose runner, but I'm still happy with Greene. Greene was drafted because the Jets had him rated as their number #1 RB on their board. I also believe because Thomas Jones will be entering his last year (Jets aren't paying him 3 Mill next year) and his status was in question going into the draft....Greene was the best option. I really do like Blount. He reminds me of Brian Leonard with all the hurdles. Let's look at some question marks with Blount. First, he is very immature. Blount missed mandatory team meetings and was suspended. Except for USC......overall the Pac-Ten's defenses are weak, Greene faced tougher defenses in the Big Ten. IMO, Blount doesn't seem to have the vision of Shonn Greene and Greene seems to be more elusive than Blount with similar power and strenght. I believe you can't look back, Greene was a great selection and should fit in very well in the Jet's backfield.
The Falcons didn't draft Shonn Greene. You're not a Jets' fan, remember? It's not a big deal that you like to talk about the draft here and you're a Falcons' fan. No one would care - it just bothers me that you try to make yourself "fit" here by acting like a Jets' fan, when you're not. You're right about Blount being a good back in a committee system. I don't think he'd be as effective running by himself. Jeremiah Johnson was a huge reason why Blunt was so successful last season. They were the perfect backfield for Oregon. The Ducks' QB Jeremiah Masoli was also a threat to run... Like WW, the PAC-10 isn't exactly stacked on defense, but the Ducks still had two 1000 yard rushers and both of them scored double digit TDs.
