OK, I just found out about the parking restrictions, and I hear that there will be NO tailgating in the satellite areas. Is there paid tailgating anywhere? What is the etiquette for joining others in tailgating? Where is the best tailgating going to be? I can't wait to see the team take it to the patsies.
Can someone answer his question anyway? Not all of us are season ticket holders....and maybe not as hardcore as you. I only have a parking pass to the 1st game but I'm going to the Browns and Chiefs games as well and am not sure what to do. I've only come to the New York area recently so this is new to me as well.
best bet is to try ebay or craigslist for one game parking permits that allow you to park in the main lot.. i went to the atlanta preseason game and was able to pick one up for 20 bucks on ebay. its probably harder to find them for regular season games but might as well at least look.
Haha, that's what I'm thinking. Sunday is just me and my wife so we probably won't bother with the grill and just scope it out to see how it works. But I don't know how anyone is supposed to park and tailgate in one spot.
It's workable. They have to expect that your tailgate will spill into the lanes where cars will come and go, between rows that is. What will inevitably happen is that folks' tailgates will spill out into the traffic lanes after the given area has filled with cars- at that point nobody will really be able to move their car in or out of the area, nor will folks have the room to go up and down between rows scoping for spots.
My understanding is that the remote parking will not allow tailgating. This is my first year with tickets on a regular basis. Last year, I was at the Oakland game, and I was able to just drive up and park. Any one else have any constructive comments on this?
I see chaos. You already have those no-necks in the yellow jackets funneling vast swampland down to one lane, I can only imagine what a disaster it will be with a built-in excuse. I might just have a helicopter drop me into the stadium like Bon Jovi did at the Giants game the one year.
It's an absolutely miserable situation for fans who don't have the parking passes which accompany season tickets. (Some of us younger guys haven't don't have season tickets). You cannot tailgate at the satellite parking lots and they are $5 more ($20) than parking in lots adjacent to the stadium. My recommendation is if you are looking to buy tickets off the internet try craigslist and look for listings with the parking pass AND tickets. Other than that, taking a shuttle - presumably sober and on an empty stomach is not an ideal situation for attending a football game at the stadium. PS - the satellite lots are 2 miles away from the stadium up Rt. 17 N. They give you a map to them if you try to enter the stadium w/o parking permits.
It's been that way for years. They don't allow you to take more than your one allocated spot (actually one year they gave me a free parking voucher for observing the rule). Anyway, we have a big tailgate and all of the cars park next to each other and the tailgate takes place at the back of the cars. We set up tables, tents, grills, etc. and cars can still traverse as necessary. Should be no big deal if you get there early; albeit I'm saying this before the first "real" game. I may be singing a different tune next week.....
I also heard they are really enforcing the 1 spot rule -- like if you have an RV that takes up 2 spots you might have issues parking in the permit lots.
I plan on getting there an hour earlier than I usually do(which is 10am) hopefully there will be room in lot 16 where I usually park,,,I'll have to crack the whip at home to get everyone out of the house on time,,,if that doesn't work at least I'll have fun cracking that whip!!!!
i am a 16b guy myself -- we will be there around 8-8:30 which is usual for us -- will be interesting to see the other big tailgate groups that take up groups of spots next to us
I just have a small grill/setup, fits in one spot but not with the car in it too. Usually we have time to do our thing and pack it up before the spots fill in.
In our case, the cars go in the spots, the tailgate takes place in the driving lane behind the cars; obviously allowing room for the cars to get by. Plus as Koz mentioned earlier once it fills up there isn't much traffic in the lanes anyway. Security has never questioned that, they only b*tch if you take up an additional parking spot for the grill and such...
That sounds like what I'll do this year. I only grill for a few games anyway, when we have people going. With the parking shortage, I have people riding with me for at least a few games. Have a nice spot near a convenient exit for the local locals.
