Read the following article this morning on ESPN Insider. If Rex wins out, does he save his job???

During our weekly look at the hottest coaching seats in the NFL last week, I had Gary Kubiak atop the list. After the Houston Texans lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday for the second time in three weeks, they finally pulled the plug on Kubiak's tenure with the team. That puts them in place to be first in line for replacements like Lovie Smith.

Other teams that have their collective eyes on a specific coach for 2014 and beyond may follow suit and cut ties with their current leader before the season ends. As things stand right now, I see two coaches whose seats are flaming hot, while several others may need a strong finish to keep their jobs:

    1. Mike Shanahan, Washington Redskins: After a story broke Sunday morning about Shanny's issues with owner Daniel Snyder's relationship with Robert Griffin III, I was mildly surprised that the coach wasn't let go after the Redskins got run over 45-10 by the Kansas City Chiefs that afternoon. As of Tuesday afternoon, Shanahan still has his job and is mulling shutting down RG III for the remainder of the regular season. All signs continue to point toward Shanahan and the Redskins separating this offseason, if not sooner.

    2. Leslie Frazier, Minnesota Vikings: To his credit, Frazier still has his team scrapping every week. The only losses in their past five games have come against the best team this season (Seattle Seahawks) and the reigning Super Bowl champs (Baltimore Ravens). Nonetheless, a win over the hapless Redskins, a tie with the Aaron Rodgers-less Green Bay Packers and an overtime victory against the Chicago Bears will only go so far in making a case to keep his job. Time will tell how this fleshes out, but there seems to be a sense of inevitability that the Vikes are looking to change things up this offseason.

    3. Warm seats:

Mike Munchak, Tennessee Titans: The team is stumbling and it appears that the front office is preparing to make sweeping changes this offseason.

Dennis Allen, Oakland Raiders: The same goes for Allen and the Raiders. They may not have a talented roster, but it sounds like their front office may not be satisfied with the progress Allen has made with the players they do have.

Jim Schwartz, Detroit Lions: If the Lions stumble and don't make the playoffs, it's entirely possible that Schwartz will be kicked to the curb.

Greg Schiano, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Rex Ryan, New York Jets: Both teams won last week, which has taken the heat off of their coaches for the short term. A rough finish during the final three games for either team could well doom their head coach, though.

The article suggests that if Rex loses out he will lose his job not that he needs to win out to keep it.

If we win out, we likely make the playoffs, so I'd say yes, Rex would be back.

Considering just about everyone in the media said that if the Jets went 8-8 it would be a miracle, then I think Rex does deserve to stay.

Shanahan, Frazier, Munchak, and Ryan........ i just don't see how any those coaches are holding the team back.
Barring a disasterous final 3 games, it would be a mistake to fire any of these coaches in my opinion.
