He blows another call. Chad Greenway commits a BLATANT facemask - then punches the ball loose. The call is fumble. Just what the hell is wrong with him? I'd be very, VERY worried if he officiates one of the Jets game. PS. He blows yet ANOTHER call. Incomplete pass - he calls complete, Sean Payton is fed up, challenges, and gets it right. Ed Houchuli worries me a LOT.
do you have any idea where the referee stands during the play?...about 10 yards behind the QB. that was simply not his call / responsibility on that play. the other one was over-turned...that's why there is replay. deep breathes...
Ed is having a particularly tuff season. He's blown some game changing calls this year. His officiating record is going to take a beating.
I liked him earlier in his career, but don't think he's been good for a couple years now. Terry McAulay, Walt Coleman, Walt Anderson, Tony Corrente, Gene Steratore, and Bill Leavy are referees I find to be better. Oh, first-year ref Albert Riveron is also pretty good from what I've seen thus far. He worked the Cardinals-Redskins game and another one which I watched extensively.
This is why officiating should be a FULL TIME JOB in the NFL. Not a part time job. Once they agree on a salary, then they will be able to concentrate on one job, instead of two!
No he didnt, that was not a fumble. Like Houchuli said the ball was still in his hand, watch the replay.
The ball was in his hand, but he clearly didn't have control of it when his knee hit the ground. That call was bushleague.
It's a shame Hochuli is screwing up so much this year, I liked him as a ref. Hopefully we don't have him in any close games.
Walt Anderson's crew is that one that called 11 first half penalties in the Jets vs. Steelers regular season game about 4 years ago (the year we also played them in the playoffs) if I'm not mistaken. Whenever I see his name, I always think of that game.
http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=337658&postcount=5 I still like Anderson. I remember a few of those calls from that particular game being questionable, but I still think he is good.
its not Houchuli's fault that he didnt see that facemask their is other officials that can see a penalty too, and AP def still had the ball in his big hand like Tony Kornhiser said "it hurts to shake his hand".
