Is he considered to be a "shut-down corner"? Does he have a nose for the ball like Ty did (especially last year)?
Ty didnt have a nose for the ball, the ball had a nose for ty. I dont consider him to be a shutdown corner but a good corner who could turn into a really good one with good coaching
He could develop into a shutdown corner. He's still young, hasn't reach his prime yet. Mangini will definitaly work with him and Miller.
Exactly. I think Ty Law was one lucky SOB last year.........a bunch of balls just happened to land in his lap. I will admit he is a good corner, but overachieved last year. Dyson has major potential and we are all hoping Mangini brings him to new levels!
Ty Law knew he was not going to be a jet this year so he was just show casing himself for the next team and his last big contract. I think we will be OK with Dyson and I have to say I like this pickup.
Yeah...Ty Law is a washed out guy. I mean like 50% of the teams penalties came from him. It was crazy...every two plays "Holding...number 24, defense." I'm glad he's gone. With that being said, Dyson can easily develop into a corner that shuts down half the field...with coaching.
Dyson is a above avg. cb when healthy. He has some issues with bump and run IMO but whatever his shortcomings might be am sure mangina will work on that with him. In terms of him putting up INT numbers like law did last year, I would be happy if he had 1/2 the picks that law had. He isn't in the same category as law but there isn't that much of a dropoff either.
Dyson is so incredible that he was one of the last corners on the market last season, at an incredibly young age. His skill has made him such a hot commodity in fact, that he was unceremoniously dumped by two teams during what was supposed to be the prime of his career. This guy seems like a poor man's Terrell Buckley. -X-
He wasn't "dumped" in either situation. The Titans didn't have the cap room to sign him, and the Seahawks signed him with the intention that he would only play under the original contract for one year. They saved a lot of money on the cap by re-signing him. Both the Titans and Seahawks really wanted to sign him, but the Jets beat them out. If both teams released him because he was a poor player, then they wouldn't be after him again this year.
I this dyson is an above average #1 CB. He is better then most and shouldnt get several PI's per game like Ty did. Also I never hear him speak about himself in the third person which is a good thing.
i wouldn't call him a shutdown corner but he can still develop into 1 .. he is young with alot of expreince playoffs n reg season and he is also very underrated .. n considering we signed him for 5 yrs 11 mil .. thats a pretty good deal ... compared to the 10 mill for this year for ty law
