His stock seems to be slipping as of late and he would make a great 3rd option at WR for Chad as he is a big possesion reciever. While our team certainly has more glaring needs on defense, CB and LB seem to be particularly deep in this draft. Any chance the Jets take him if he's on the board at 25?
it depends on how the board falls of course, but if there is no value to be had at 25 by selecting an OL, DL, or CB, I think Jarrett would be a great choice. I think he will be a solid pro
When he is there at 25, that is the guy I will be rooting for. That being said, I dont think we would take him.
Olsen, Ramirez, Hughes, Soliai, and two schomos. End of Story. Offense is much improved at Line and with a pass catching TE that can stretch the D. CB is adressed. We have another option at 3-4 DT. Done. 11-5.
I would like Jarrett on the Jets. Looking strictly at his college production he is one of the top 2 WRs in the draft. In fact, I can't think of any reason not to take him. Mid season he was regarded as a top 10 pick and as far as I can tell, through no fault of his own he has dropped. I think the three reasons he has fallen are 1) the amount of other top WRs (Bowe, Meachem, etc.), 2) the lingering hangover from Mike Williams and Jarrett's comparison to Williams and 3) the average 40 yard dash times (4.6s I believe) So basically 2/3 of the reasons are through no fault of his own and the last reason is an overrated reason anyways. No one thought he was going to be a burner deep threat. He is 6'4" with 41 touchdowns in three years. He is a possession type who will go up and get the ball and be dominant in the red-zone. Speed isn't as important anyways with people like Boldin and Colston dominating in the recent years. This guy hasn't been as impressive in shorts and t-shirts as the other big time WRs but on the field he was better than even Calvin Johnson. Jarrett would provide a big target for Pennington's floaters and would eventually be able to take over for Coles in 3 years seeing as Coles will be 30 in December. That said, I am still hoping for Anthony Spencer.
Dwayne Jarrett would be an excellent pick. Jarrett has seen his stock drop ever since the end of the season and not due to anything he has done on the field. Jarrett doesn't test well, big deal. He is a monster on the field.
That 4.6 40 killed Jarrett. This guy is an absolute natural talent. Grew up 5 minutes from me. I knew his name from his sophomore year in highschool in New Brunswick NJ and onward. He's got Calvin Johnson type awareness and hands, at the cost of a few ticks on the track. He'd be our new keyshawn, near where he grew up, and hopefully without the baggage.
If Meachem or Bowe slip to 25, Jets are gonna grab them. All this CB talk is a front, they want a WR or TE at 25.
Jarrett is well aware of his stock plummeting because of the 40 times but he also made the statement (paraphrasing), "You don't go out after a pass in the NFL running in a straight line for 40 yards." Think about that for awhile... His time hasn't hampered his number of receptions (and clutch ones at that), but that being said, if it's a question of Blalock or Jarrett at #25, we've got to go with Blalock and finish what we started.
