I Remeber being somewhat excited when we signed him to compete with Sanchez and I remeber really liking the move at the time, then we traded for Tebow and Stanton demanded to be cut or traded .Now he is playing well with the Cardnials he is 3-1 as the starter there ,although he does have a lot of weapons and a well rounded team overall this kind of stuff annoys me as a Jets fan.It just shows you this team under the current regime can't develop a QB

I hear ya man. I was excited that we had a honest normal backup QB. Not half dead vet, practice squad hold over, gimmick player. The Jets let us live with that dream for like two minutes before they go and get freaking Tebow. It's these kind of things that hurt the organization and any belief its fans might have that the damn thin isn't being run by chimps.

Honestly it was so brief, I can hardly even recall him being on the team.

Maybe that's part of why this thread hasn't gotten more feedback yet.

He got 1 great WR and 1 very good one. His team has CB's. That helps a hell of a lot.

Stanton is a career backup..and was one in Arizona too.

How in the fuck would we have developed him? He put up 14 points today for gods sake.

    I mean are ya serious?

He would have replaced Sanchez in 2012. Remember Greg McElroy started a game that year. Maybe Geno Smith does not get drafted by the Jets. It was very stupid of the Jets to sign Stanton and then have to get rid of him when they brought in Tebow.

And Aaron Rodgers put up 7 points against Detroit.

Detroit has a good defense. It is one of the best ones in the league.

He probably would have beaten Sanchez in a fair QB competition to be honest.. don't shoot the messenger

Stanton's still in the NFL so he's doing something right but honestly.....Arians style of coaching and offense really helps a QB elevate his game. He's such a money offensive signal caller, maybe only 2nd to Chip Kelly right now in the game. And he's always been an outstanding QB coach, there's a reason Big Ben threw a hissy fit when Arians got canned in PIT.

Is that really how were comparing QB's?

Im not saying Stanton is a bad QB. But everwhere he's been he's been there as a backup. Even after us Indy signed him as a backup.

We didnt let go of anything special.

Are things so bad here that we have to admire other teams averageness at quarterback?

lol fair enough then. But really thats gotta be all it is. Drew freakin Stanton guys!?!? Is that what were yearning for?

How do we think he would be doing here?

Cards are pretty much stronger than us across the board and he's putting up average stats for them. Not gonna win many games for the Jets these days by putting up 14 points. IDC how good the opposing defense is. He had 2 picks and should've had 2 others.

I did not write that I admire Stanton or that I want him on the Jets.

In that case why mention what Rodgers did against that defense? Like that matters. Geno did pretty well against a GB defense that Sanchez struggled against. Does that matter too?

I did not write that I admire Stanton,or
Because it was a quick and easy way to say Detroit has a good defense. I didn't think mentioning Whitehead,Suh, Ansah, Vaughn, Slay, Ihedigbo, and company was necessary.

The Cardinals took a major hit losing Palmer but they will still win games with Stanton. Stanton's toughest games were vs Detroit, the two upcoming games vs Seattle and the playoff game(s).

I know Detroit has a good D but this post was made to bash the Jets about not "developing" Stanton when he was here for about 2 days. We didnt draft him and have him ride the bench for 3 years and sent him packing without knowing what he was.

He's the same thing now as he was when he was drafted 4 years before we signed him. An average NFL QB. And thats all he'll ever be. The Cards chances of winning a Superbowl with Palmer were about 10 percent. The chances of them winning with Stanton is less than 1 percent.

So the idea that a 27 year old career backup (his age when he was here) could be developed into something great wreaks of a moronic thread by the OP.

Stanton is a perfect example of how good an average QB can be when you give him the weapons to be successful. The Jets, under Rex, haven't "developed" a QB because they never built an offense or kept any consistency on offense, that's basically it.

So a 9-1 team has a less than 1 percent chance of winning the Super Bowl. I'd like to know how you arrived at that number.
