One of the articles on the sidebar here mentions how the only 2 players to visit the Jets 3 times are Jimmy Garoppolo and Bradley Roby (http://www.ganggreennation.com/2014/5/3/5678612/ny-jets-jimmy-jet). If this is accurate, pretty interesting. Seems like Dennard and Clinton-Dix will be most likely gone by the time we pick, and Roby is described as the most talented of all the corners in the draft, but just inconsistent and with some baggage. Seems logical that they brought him in to see if they can get him to fix all of that up. Rex in general seems to be ok with baggage players (Holmes, Plaxico) and inconsistent ones with natural talent (Coples, Cromartie), so I wouldn't be surprised if they picked Roby in the first round. I would also like it if they picked a QB. Don't watch college football, so I don't know much about Garoppolo, but seems to have some upside. They better feel real good about him though, if they draft him in the 2nd.
way too many needs to fill to go QB in the 2nd or 3rd round. Garopollo is mentioned as a 2nd or 3rd round pick nowadays. Plenty of talented QBs to be found later in the draft to mentor for the future...
Idzik won't take Roby that high, because he puts more value on mental character. If they don't go CB in round 1, and Roby falls to our 49 pick, I bet they can't pass on the upside. Lots of good CB's have fallen far because of character concerns.
Jimmy G has a release that's up there with Peyton/Brady so no surprise that a lot of teams have shown interest, I'll watch a few of his games and see what his footwork is like sometime before the draft.
If Garrapolo is selected by us I will be very upset. Neither excites me in the least but Roby in the 3rd would be a decent pick. Anything earlier is a waste.
Remember a lot of these meetings with prospects is just due diligence for down the line. All of the players in the draft will someday be free agents. Not every meeting implies an interest in drafting that player.
Add to that Vick saying "Geno is the starter". So I guess we find out on Thursday if all this is just a smokescreen to draft a QB or Geno is our franchise quarterback. BTW, Philly fans are mocking Vick for "taking a lay down" and "way to compete Mike".
sheldon richardson said the jets didn't contact him at all before they drafted him. he wasn't brought in for a meeting and they only spoke a little at the combine these things don't mean much
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9390/eric-ebron "Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports teams are souring on North Carolina TE Eric Ebron due to his "high maintenance sort of personality." Pauline specifically mentioned the Giants, one of the league's tight end-neediest teams, at No. 12 overall as a club backing off Ebron. "He's a me type of player and he always has been," Pauline continued. "He's a me type of person on the field and off the field. He's the kind of guy that was complaining when he didn't feel he was getting the ball enough. He's not well liked by all of his teammates." I've been saying this for months. Finally, a dose of reality that flies in the face of all the hype surrounding this guy. For those who've seen "Draft Day," he's the Bo Callahan of TEs.
A lot of people are surprised, that's not Vick so it would seem he was told by somebody to say that and a QB in the draft could very well be the reason why.
Guess who told him to say this with 3-4 days to go? Mr I reminded Vick about his pre contract pledge to support poor little Geno and the Jets will additionally prob get an insurance QB, possibly to outplay Geno for Fran.QB down the road.
The Ebron reports are worrisome but other reports have him as the Ravens top target. So if thats true he isnt lasting until 18. I personally dont think he's gonna last to the Ravens.
