If there is anyone in the first round that I would have the Jets trade up for it's Michael Crabtree (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=184845). This guy is exactly what we need and what we haven't had in a while: an elite wide receiver. When was the last time we drafted a wideout in the first round? Santana Moss? Though we was fast, he wasn't tall enough to become a dominant #1. Crabtree looks like he can become the next Andre Johnson, and it's time for the Jets to get their hands on a tall (6'3") and speedy wideout. Get it done!
why trade up into the top 5? get the guy in my sig who may not require a trade up. and if he does it would only be a few spots.
Absolutely.....Need a Bid Wideout (bigger then the wrs out of Mizzou and Florida). The biggest question still remains, who would throw him the ball???

Crabtree is a top 7 pick in the upcoming draft I dont see the JETS making a move of this nature this year. A more sensable pick would be Kenny Britt the WR out of Rutgers possibly in the 2nd round if not 1st.
really not in favor of trading up at all. i have no hope we can get crabtree. there is a chance that maclin falls to us as he is currently projected to go anywhere from 10-20 depending on who you listen too. also wr probably isn't that top need for this team anyway.
Agreed. This is not the year to move up in the draft. Kenny Britt would be a great choice if he lasts until our 2nd round selection. He is all of 6'4 220 chiseled out of stone and can run. We need that type of big physical playmaker on the outside. Now all we need is a QB who can get him the damn ball!

Crabtree is gonna be long gone by 17 and I dont see the Jets trading up...i've been following Crabtree his entire college career he is going to be a fantastic WR, just not as a Jet. I'd take a LB or CB first, before a WR
I'm guess you have to at least move up to 5 to get in front of Crazy Al. He'd wet himself at a chance to grb an athleath like Crabtree. Then again he proly wet his depends because he forgets he has to go at thims as well. Any ways that said #5 = 1,700 pst. Our entire draft comes to 1653 points. I'm guessing it would have to be some thing like this years first and second, fith and next years first (2003 points using that next years picks is droped a round value), in return we get Seattle's 1st and 4th this year (1798)to about even out the points. An ugly thought at best, front office suicide at worst. No way in hell we do this.
definitely wouldnt want to trade up. guys like crabtree scare me, the gimmicky offense that they ran and the fact they threw the ball 100 times a game make me think he might not be as good as he seems. it is much different to run routes against double coverage in the nfl than it is when you have 6 guys in a pattern in college. although everyone sees him as the next coming i would be very scared to draft him, and i sure as hell wouldnt leverage the future in order to move up to draft him. i am beginning to like the sound of britt in the second. as there are other needs on the team that i think should be taken care of at 17. however if a maclin type were there that would make me at least think about wr in the first. i personally dont care that much about elite size, most good quick wrs dont have it. i would rather a guy that runs good routes and gets in and out of his breaks faster than anyone else over a guy who is tall. also someone who is determined to get better, there are many guys with tons of talent and the body of an nfl player but if they dont decide to put in the effort on a 12 month a year basis they will never become elite.
Crabtree sure seems to have the Size and skills to become elite. It has nothing to do with how many times he sees the ball, but what he does with his chances. He is a tall (6 ft 3 in) Big bodied (214 pounds) receiver who gives us the type of weapon we lack. Combine him with a guy like Keller and we could give defenses fits in the red Zone for years to come. Although I think he's going to be very good, I agree that leveraging the future to get him is a big mistake. One prospect is not woth the shot at entire draft of prospects.
Mike Crabtree needs to work on his hands - he has the ability to make circus catches, but he drops a lot of easy balls...even in clutch situations. He'll still probably go in the top five picks, and catching/hands can be coached up - he just needs to get his head right and he'll be great. He's an awesome receiver prospect but 2010 is the year to draft a wideout -- Dez Bryant and Arrelious Benn look like they have what it takes to be dominant in the NFL.
A joke I suppose. Football wizard Matt Millen is gone, so Lions-drafting-a-WR-in-Round-1 jokes should be retired. I think Kansas City or Seattle will draft Crabtree.
