There are a lot of reasons for optimism surrounding this hire, but for me the biggest is that it has been reported that the Jets were Saleh’s number one choice. Yea the Jets have cap space and draft capital, but there are a lot of reasons to look at other teams favorably. What this tells me is that there is real chemistry between Douglas and Saleh, and that they were able to communicate their visions to each other effectively. Saleh walked away saying “this is the guy I want to work with every day and build a team with.” Other teams could offer cap space and draft picks and a big market and some a much better QB situation, but only the Jets could offer Douglas.
