I'm late to the boards following yesterday's loss. But after watching Chad overthrow, underthrow, etc. throughout the game...I'm wondering if hurt the shoulder again. Precision and accuracy have always been his strengths. The only times he's thrown like he did yesterday, the man was playing with shoulder damage. His passes yesterday were similar to the first three games of last year, as opposed to the first three games of this year. He missed wide-open receivers with off-target passes. This is not a healthy Chad Pennington folks. And if he is healthy...then this is not the direction we should be taking with the Jets' future.
I was wondering the same thing. His passes looked awful yesterday. Even during the game I was looking to see if he was favoring his shoulder.
Did he hurt himself on that scramble early on for the first down? He didn't slide, he went headfirst and landed hard.
I'm not gonna lie, I was slightly pessimistic about him being hurt too. Chad played an awful game yesterday. And why is he always 'probable' for the games?
I held my breath when he did that. hmy: But he didn't seem to be gimpy or anything so I figured he was ok.
You do remember he walked into the press room last week with a bandage on. He told the writers it was just a turf burn
I think this could be his arm starting to hurt from two surgeries. His arm was kept fresh because he shared snaps with 3 other QBs in camp but now he's getting all the snaps and i think his arm is getting tired. He keeps putting a lot more zip than he needs to on his passes, possibly because if he throws it normaly then it will float. This in turn is making his passes less accurate and thus makes him feel uncomfortable about throwing into coverage.Chad really didn't want to throw to the middle of the field yeesterday,he kept to the safer routes, the fly patterns and dumpoffs, the passes that have less chance ofbeing intercepted if you are inaccurate.
He hasn't looked the same since the Jax game but a couple of those horrendous throws were tipped ballas or balls that h threw as he was being hit.
If he is, he is selfish about it. I know if he is injured he will tell everyone he is feeling fine. I know he wants to play and win, but if he's injured and can't play to a top level, he shouldn't be playing.
after watching his performance yesterday, how can anyone claim that Chad gives the Jets "the best chance to win"? It's time for Mangini to put his money where his mouth is. Bench Pennington, for at least one series, for God's sakes. The offense couldn't have been any more anemic or self-destructing with Kellen Clemens in there....
3rdanddraw was bringing up the point that chad wasnt himself yesterday..and not only on the field...he seemed bummed out..no excitement. This could make sense. Hey listen, forget about the "oh..one bad game..and here come the darksiders" routine. These are honest debates..and Chad will always be viewed under the microscope because of his past..so some need to take it easy with their own cliches.
i think chad is fine...i have a feeling that the wind had something to do with his under and over throws
He not only hasn't looked the same but the performance drop off is off the charts. Games 1-4 he had one game under 200 yards and just barely. Games 5-8 no games over 200 yards and 1 game under 100 yards. He may be hurt or he might have a tired arm? Games 1-4 82/122 1,015 yards 6TD's 2INT's 8.32 YPA Games 5-8 54/96 543 yards 3TD's 6INT's 5.65 YPA
I think Chad's shoulder and body are tired. This bye comes at a perfect time for him and the Jets. When was the last time Chad played 8 straight games? His body has to be tired.
The ball he threw over the middle to Coles that was high and overthrown is a good example of why he just had AN OFF DAY. Plenty of zip on the pass, good form and follow-through, just a terrible throw, should have gone for 6.
How is that fine? If he can't play when there is wind he's playing on the wrong team, we're not a dome team. Even dome team QBs can play better in the wind though.
i don't believe hes anywhere near 100%, but I don't think his mistakes this week are because of an injury
