I ask this because a lot of Bills fans think beating Minnesota is going to be easy, and are thinking that it's an almost sure win. I'm just wondering if Jets fans have lost their minds from last weeks' gams, like my fellow Bills fans have.
I've got a weird feeling about this game, the type of feeling I get only when I'm positive the jets will win, I smell an upset.
Well, you KNOW NE isn't beating Cincy, so a win would give Jets first in the AFCE. Also, I bet Miami loses to Houston. I hope Moulds catches 20 balls.
I don't know what to think of this game. Every time I think of it, my mind goes in circles like staring into a mirror pointed at a mirror. On the surface the initial reaction of most people, myself included, is that the Colts are easily the better team and should win easily. But this Jets team has far exceeded my expectations so far. I expected them to win in Tenessee, but they way they won it at the end showed real resolve and excellent work by the offense AND defense under pressure. Even in the loss to the Patriots they showed so many things we haven't seen from the Jets in years. The ability to adjust to the opponent during the game, a team refusing to give up, and nearly a miraculous come from behind victory. Last week IN Buffalo, while giving up 18000 yards of total offense they still somehow seemed to be in control of the whole game. This team is getting visibly better every week so far. Now we've got arguably the best offense and passer in the league, along with a solid defense coming into our stadium. The Colts offense, while still very very good, lost a step when they didn't resign the Edge. Eric Mangini worked with the those Patriots teams that completely confused the smartest QB in the league. The Jets certainly don't have the personel the Pats had during those playoff games, but we're not THAT far behind. Offensively, the Jets have shown the ability to put points on the board as well as most teams in the league at times this season. If the Jets play their best football for 60 minutes and get some breaks I think they have a great shot at winning their first game in front of the home crowd this season. If they don't play their best football for 60 minutes, forget about it. Winning this game would give this team a tremendous boost in confidence and momentum for the rest of the season and would set the media and this message board into a frenzy. All you f'rs going to the stadium this weekend better be screaming your asses off for 3 hours straight to support this team, Mangini would appreciate it.
I think we have a great chance to take this game. Honestly, I am more worried about going to Jacksonville.
This is a very winnable game....If you look at the stats they are pretty much equal...Both running games are average at best (with us getting Kendal back thats gonna help big time), the passing games are only 50 yards off per game in avg. I like the fact that while Mangini was with NE they were 7-2 against the Colts.(Now I know he wasn't the main man there, but he does know the game plans that were used to win) Its gonna be a dog fight. Jets 28 Colts 24.....Plus my son didn't wear his Vilma jersey to school during the week we lost to NE but he wore during the weeks that we won....He's already got it out for school in the morning....The funniest thing is that he's only 3 and goes to pre-school...He's totally addicted to the Jets and I love it!
One thing about the whole 'Belichick confused Peyton' thing. Peyton kinda choked a little bit, no? I mean, from the first snap on he looked like a totally different player in those New England games. Some of the picks he threw to Law, he just threw it right to him. Was it that he was just SOOOO confused? Law is covering the guy out in the flat and Peyton overthrew or underthrew the ball horribly some of those times. Belichick is a great coach and all, but is he the all encompasing mystic ruler? Peyton choked too, ya know, and looking at his career back to Tennessee it wasn't a completely new thing for him. He's an awesome QB. He could shred us on Sunday, but that's because it's not such a big game in the scheme of things. When it was a big game in the Meadowlands against the Jets in the playoffs, he kinda lost 41-0. Were we a better team by 41 points at that particular time? I think not. They did have Marvin, Edge, etc.
Stranger things have happened. This isn't the dominant Colts team of the past 2 years and if you can move the ball on Indianapolis' defense you can out gun them (now that there's no running game to keep defenses honest, their recievers can be blanketed.) I'd say that the Colts are still the decisive favorites, but the Jets definately have a fighting chance.
I hate to say it, but I do not expect a W this week - I can't see our O keeping up with Peyton and Co
I never expect a WIN (been a JET fan way too long) but I do feel that we can beat any team that we play. They way I look at it is: We have played 3 games and have yet to play an entire game the way we can. Getting Kendal back on the OL is huge & will only help the running game and it wouldn't suprise me if we finally have a break out game and actually score a TD in the first quarter. JETS 28 Colts 24
You make a very good point. My guess is that both played a factor. lmao @ "all encompasing mystic ruler"
I think it's a toss-up. If Mangini really had anything to do with the Pat's game-planning that has made Manning miserable then that's a big plus for the Jets. Also, Manning has had a couple of real off-days against the Jets, most recently in the 2002 playoff game the Jets won 41-0 in the Meadowlands. That playoff win was also the last time we saw Chad performing at the level he's at now. I'm not going to spend a lot of time analyzing it but I do believe the Jets have a very real chance to win on Sunday, probably nearly as good a chance as the Colts.
That's an interesting note, because if Mangini & Company can't beat the gameplan into the teams' heads before the game starts instead of in halftime, the Jets will not win this game. The Colts offense is relentless and Dungy is not afraid to run up the score if Indy goes up big early. The Jets need to play a complete game to have a chance.
I think the boys could beat them due to the fact that they don?t have a running game anymore?. Peace out.
I don't see why we don't have a SHOT against the Colts. I think we can beat them. As long as we stop Peyton early, I don't see why we can't win this game. That's really the key to beating the Colts. Stop the almighty Peyton.
WWShoes.... I tend to agree. In no way do i expect a win, but on the other hand, this does have many earmarks of an upset.... the Colts coming off a big win, the Jets on the upswing.... What I liked most was what I read about Mangini's comments. He said it's hard to beat manning with the same defensive game plan twice. You have to do something different, because Manning studies his losses, and is a game film bookworm. Mangini won't try a Xerox copy of what has worked before.... he'll throw in some new twists. maybe using Rhodes as a blitz decoy, and sending a CB instead, that sort of thing. I hardly expect a win, but this team can surprise on any given week.... and some people say coaching is over rated. NOT.
I dunno, it's gonna be tough for us. I hope/don't think anybody is guaranteeing a win here. The Vikings are no joke- Johnson won't make mistakes and their O-line is scary good.
I think any team has a chance to beat any team in the NFL. But I also think the Jets will probably lose this Sunday. No pass rush versus the best passing attack in the league.
