It's obvious the problems they had between Schottenheimer's playcalling system, to the problems Sanchez had trying to cope with it...and now I bring in the dynamic of Tom Moore. Moore may have helped with the red zone offense but I bring this to the table (mind you these are not my words I got this from another forum as one of the posters met Tom Moore at a coaching clinic)... I don't know what Moore did to try to help this offense get better last year but having Schottenheimer's complex system added onto whatever Moore consulted him on...may have just confused the shit out of Sanchez and this offense.
That is pretty interesting that they ran such a simple offense and it worked so damn well. Funny how having good receivers who run crisp routes could do. Unfortunately, Schotty did everything possible to confuse the shit out of Sanchez.
This is part of the hope entering this season. Shotty wanted things to be extremely complex and it makes the it easier to fool the defense. That said, if anyone misses an assignment its that much easier to blow up a play. Remeber all the shifting that came along at the begining that was eventually phased out. Yeesh. Our offense was stagnant in the 6 years under shotty. Of the QB's we had here, Chad ran it the best. Given his best asset as a QB was his football IQ thats not a suprise. Farve asked for it to be simplfied and it was. Sanchez looked any where from great to horrible during his three years with shotty. Now we get to learn if it was Brian making things overly complex for complexities sake or if Mark is really just that bad at progressing through his reads. Where the flashes of brilliance all we get or just the surface. We see the same probles from time to time on our defense. Confusion in assignments leading to big plays or easy conversions are ugly, but less evident if the D shuts them down before scoring. On offense it stands out more because when things get ugly it often ends a drive in a horrible flame out.
Yes, calling out your coaches is always a good move. :rofl2: Some time fans around here should take some blame for posting, because they don't think before hand and just throw out what ever fits thier bias agsint a player the best.
but all wr's can be good route runners.it's just a matter of working at your craft. tom moore's principles are right.if you execute the play to perfection most of the time it will be successful.schoty drew up 1,000 plays trying to outsmart the d.good offenses say this is what we do and we don't care if you know its coming because we are good at it and know we can beat you with it. another example is the sweep curtis martin ran.everyone watching or playing knew it was coming nd he still got atleast 4-5 yards on it. i hope sporano brings that same simple attitude
That was my main point receivers knowing where they have to be and getting there and Mark making the throw for them to get there. A receiver like Plaxico would never be able to do this as he is a poor route runner. I believe that Tone is a very good route runner though.
Oh yeah, he'd have done great things for the Jets if he started pointing fingers at his offensive coordinator. Love him or hate him the one thing that has been constant in Sanchez career with the Jets is that he *always* points the finger at himself. That's how you do it.
All our problems start up front, no time to throw the ball efficiently and no push running the ball. We need to improve our O-line its that simple. The rest is just overrated problems. Fix the O-line and get back to the form we had in 09-10 and everything else will fall into place with slight adjustments, I guarantee it.
Yeah this is the main point. I understand now how Peyton Manning was able to call the Colts plays on the field. He had like 12 basic plays to choose from and everything else was a minor variation on them. Then he looked over the defensive front and called protections. That's like pocket pool. You put Manning in something like Schotty was running and it all would have broken down. The Colts were running zone blocking and that's where the similarities would have ended.
Sadly, (and I don't mean this as a knock on Sanchez) a bunch (but........but it was only a few of) the Jets seem to agree with Sanchez that the blame was in fact, his fault. By that, I mean Holmes, Plax and to some extent, LT (at least). My guess is there are more.
At least in public. Yeah. That is how things are done. That's how I handled my team when I was running the armsroom in Cp. Bonifas back then too. Throwing people under the bus in public is never the right call under any circumstances.
Really interesting about the simplicity of their offense . I do think Payton was the real factor in that offense being as good as it is. Yes Moore can keep it dumbed down , but Payton changes the plays and protection at the line. He basically makes Moore look like a genius. very similar as Brady does for Belicheat. I personally do not buy that tom Moore had any effect on our team ; hey look we sucked really bad and Schotty left because he is a failure and has been for 7 + years here or something like that. I tell ya what I'm kind of scared of Sparano and his offensive scheme . The Dolphins were anemic , other then the wild-cats year and it took a change at quarterback and going away from the run for him to have some success with the Fins..
He sort of did. During Hard Knocks when Sanchez was wearing the headset he called a TD scoring drive, then told Shotty it was easy and he sucked.
