The Bolts didnt trade him for picks. I really wanted us to go after him in the off season but it looks like San Diego was asking for way to much for him and Im really happy with Jones.
Now he'll become a free agent and end up with nothing in return... This is sort of like the Lamont Jordan situation, but on a larger scale.
I think the Jets are saving money this year so they can have the cash to be a front runner for Michael Turner next year when he hits the UFA market The Jets are like 10 million under the cap as we speak, and I think that's the best amongst all 32 teams?
No, I'm not suggesting at all, but TJ will be 30 Years old next year and Leon will always be used best as a Change of Pace Scatback, so I can see the Jets making a run at Turner next year and cutting Ced Houston loose, then maybe installing Turner as the feature back in 2009 It would be a proactive move, preparing for TJ's decline, but I could be wrong .. the more I think about it, I probably am wrong .. I don't think the Jets will bring in TJ's heir apparent that quickly unless {GOD forbid} TJ suffers a serious injury
TJ is going to be the feature back here for at least 3 years. You don't pay someone 5M a year to sit. And you can't cut him for cap reason. The numbers aren't right for Turner.
I think he will still get traded before summer camps open. Probably to NE if Maroney's shoulder is as bad as rumored. That's their only back.
This is why I really liked the move for TJ , at 30 and with low mileage we should be able to get 2-3 good years out of him , in which time Manginis influence should be stamped all over it. By which time we will also need a QB :shit:
