That shouldn't have been flagged. The league protects the Pats.

It's debatable and I can see the argument for both sides. I'm just glad he finally paid for it. I love watching the Steelers D.

It looks like, after the hit when they show the close-up of Polamalu, that he's blessing Welker with a quick sign of the cross, as if to say, "Please to be your Blessings, Mr. Welker. You're done." Haha

I guess this thread is how everyone else felt anytime Chrebet was concussed.

Cheap shot that knocked one of their best players out of the game while it was still somewhat in doubt. I wouldn't be dancing over that grave.

cheap shot. if that had been coles or cotch anyone cheering that would be outraged. dont tell me he didn't see that the ball was tipped. you can still hit the guy after the ball is tipped but he left his feet to try to take him out. that was the definition of UNNECESSARY roughness.

I'm on the fence with this... I believe you have to let these guys get hit, but this looks more like an intention to harm someone the way he delivered the hit, rather than "good defense".

Huge hit; not helmet-to-helmet. Will Clark get suspended even though Matt Light got just a fine for intentionally trying to hurt another player?

The ball was in the air when he got hit so it's a legal play. It wasn't a helmet to helmet hit. You can say it was unnecessary but this is football and when you are in the middle of the field and ball is tipped all receivers are fair game.

It looked to me like Clark could easily tell that the ball had been tipped and Welker had let up, which makes it a cheap shot and unnecessary roughness.

he may not have been able to avoid making contact with him since they had both been moving at full speed until the ball was tipped. but he had time to see the ball was tipped and not lower the shoulder like he did.

Cheap shot. I wouldn't be surprised if Polamalu is fined and/or suspended.

Reminds me of Doug Plank laying out Wesley Walker back in the day. Just like this it happened way after the play was over.

I hate Welker as much if not more than the next guy, but had that been Coles, Stuckey or Clowney, everyone would be up in arms about that hit, so I can't say Welker deserved it. I'm just glad he's ok cause that could've ENDED badly. Really bad from the sound of it and the way he landed. Still, I'd have to say it was a good, clean, hit since the ball was tipped in the middle of the field. Anybody can say he should've eased up but when you're in the game, you're gonna want to make a play. Especially when you think you're gonna get a good, legit, hit leading in with your shoulder.
