Looks like the Jets may add Mason to the WR core!
LisaZimmerman Derrick Mason will take physical w/Jets on Thursday per @CBSSportsNFLTEN & @MattRybaltowski. If he passes, expect Jets to sign him

Man, i wonder if he's got something else @37 yrs of age... 800yds season last year I know but that's pretty damn old.

Still, if healthy he's a solid backup. Guess this means no Edwards for good (I know there weren't many chances in the first place).

This is interesting and suggests they may be further down the road with moving Cotchery than it seemed.

Or Cotchery may not be fully healed from his surgery...

Nah, he said he's feeling great plus his doctor gave him the green light. This is all because Tanny wants to trade him.

Fun fact, Derrick Mason's 1st TD catch was thrown by Sammy Baugh...

I'll tell you what he'll bring to this team: sure hands and leadership for the young interior receivers we brought in.

If the Jets bring him in, both Scotty McKnight and Jeremy Kerley get to watch one of the best route runners in football play the slot this year.

Good for depth but I really hope this isn't meant to be a Cotch replacement move. I would rather have a rusty Cotchery coming off injury as our 3rd WR over Mason at this point in his career.

Just read that Kerley has never run a route before. He was always told to just go out and do it.

    Pretty crazy no?

Too bad the Fins got rid of Crowder, the smack talk between him and Mason would have been worth the price of admission.

Do you know how many players say that every year? He had a herniated disk, that's not something you just bounce right back from.

    +1

In the role we'd need Mason to play he'd bring plenty to the table, and would be the perfect compliment to Holmes and Plax.

We'll free up cap space (this year and next) going from Cotch to Mason, plus any asset we can acquire by moving Jerricho.

Great asset management by Mr. T.
