With the entire Moore situation, people are forgetting that Mims is a really good blocker, much better than Moore. Mims might even be a better option on the outside given his size and his ability to catch 50-50 balls. I am really excited to see what Mims does with his opportunities this week. Mims was in a really unfortunate situation. He came out of Baylor, which emphasizes wide receiver blocking and doesn't put a premium on good route running. Mims was clearly a developmental player coming into the NFL who was going to need to be seriously coached up. He came into the NFL; had some success his first year and then switched from Gase's system to Saleh/MLF's system. MLF's system requires very precise route running and timing, which he was not properly taught. Put that together with covid reducing training camp and coaching opportunities, the change in system to one requiring precise route running and timing and it was nearly a perfect storm for Mims. Now that he's been working on the offense and they've been coaching him for a year plus, I'm really excited to see how he's developed. He might surprise us.
Here is all the drama. 1. This must be killing MLF because clearly he has something against Mims. Zero snaps this season. 2. Mims has nothing to lose at this point so it could be a great game for him. That's what happens in these situations. 3. If Mims has a great game everyone will be like, "why hasn't he played this year? Whats going on?"
I don't think MLF hates him. I think its that MLF wants very precise route running and timing that that was never Mim's strength. Look at WRs the Jets have drafted under Saleh & MLF - Moore and Wilson - 2 receivers with excellent route running skills coming into the NFL. I also think that Mims initially resisted their coaching and that's not something that coaches respond well to.
I hope your making fresh tea and cakes for the next cult gathering this Sunday. It's been a while! Looking forward to blaming Wilson is he doesn't get any catches/yards, or the personal vendetta the coaching staff has against him if he gets a catch or two keeping this amazing talent on the sideline.. make sure all our bases are covered
I said I hope Mims does well with his opportunity and you responded with a strange post about a cult conspiracy. Maybe you are just on drugs or something
We can (at least I can) take a lesson from this--keep your chin up and keep doing the best you can every day and you will get your opportunity. It would be great on so many levels if Mims performs well. But even if he doesn't have a good game, he worked hard to earn his shot and should be commended.
Looking to forward to seeing Mims in action this week. I don't know if he'll be seeing many targets... but if he picks up a few 1st downs that'd be great.
The tale of two round 2 picks. One took the mature path, the other let his emotions get the best of him. Hey, this may turn out a win-win. Moore will hopefully learn from his mistake, & grow up... as a Jet. And, everyone (including the CS) will see if a healthy Mims can produce. If he's able to step up, he'll solidify his place on the team, and/or solidify his value, if the Jets do decide to trade him. Let's hope Moore can subdue his demons, & Mims takes advantage of this opportunity.
Cult aside, it would be great if he is successful and we could use someone of his size to be apart of the offense. A couple catches and a first down or 2 would be a win. Nothing is not much of a loss
I hope Mims does great to help us win, and, improve his trade value. He clearly has no future with us.
Rightly so on 3. I actually hope it happens for two reasons. If he does have a good game it’s good for us. It also might force MLF to answer some tough questions.
