Playing the worst linebacking game I have ever seen. Can't tackle, can't cover, gets blocked on his ass every play, penalties.
Been saying for years that he's trash, I don't get what some people see in him. He literally has nothing to offer except for his dumb 40 that he keeps bragging about. Go watch some film you bozo, this ain't the olympics.
always thought DeMario was overrated. He's awful at hitting holes too, so many times you see him get eaten up. Don't even get me started on his coverage skills. Best thing he can do is hit the QB.
He's supposed to be a coverage LB. Hips too tight...can't turn and run and as someone else said he has a hard time shedding blocks. Misses too many tackles.
Just another Rex swing and miss. Harris is playing better than Demario and he's got like 7 years on him
All "his" guys are swing and miss. Coples (who we took over a pro bowl caliber guard in DeCastro) commits the game ending penalty.
I have to say I agree with most of the posters on this thread. Davis has been a disappointment, it seems his play has leveled off or dipped some. That penalty where he threw down Sproles was so stupid. The Jets were going to get the stop there and force the punt or FG but he couldn't control his frustrations. I feel like that play contributed to the loss just as much as the horrible Marshall lateral. On a side note I liked Marshall's accountability after the game. I like rooting for that guy.
Meh...he is what he is. A serviceable middle linebacker w/ some plus athleticism. There just aren't a ton of great LBs in today's game let alone suited to play in the 3-4. Kuechle,Bowman,Wagner..who else is really that great? While Davis certainly has his shortcomings(Stacking,Open field tackling, & certain coverage situations) He largely offsets the lack of speed the rest of the LB corps possesses. Simple terms: He may not always tackle the ball carrier..but at least he GETS to the ball carrier. I could see a different role for Davis moving forward. He's very useful in certain packages w/ his range & closing ability. Problem is, some other team will be willing to pay him to be a starter. You can bet on that.
He's very overrated. He's a Rex-hyped up guy. He can't cover for shit. But his penalty today that cost us was absolute BULLSHIT..
Davis stinks--He bounced off Matthews like a ping pong ball on like the 3rd play of the game. My solution--DON'T PLAY DAVIS. Play a 4-3 with Harris as MLB. The jets have DL up the butt but only play three at a time. They only have 1 real LB (Harris) yet they play four LB at a time. Another case where the coach imposes his "round peg/square hole" system on a team instead of playing to the team's strength.
Round peg square hole you say? Let's relax. DD didn't have a great game, like many other jets today. He still gives us the best flexibility out there at a position we need to upgrade. Bowles doesn't run a 4-3 and by not staying true to his defensive roots is not wise. Again, let's relax
This defense would get torched with three stack linebackers in a 4-3. Think about what you're saying before you post.
Had a bad game like many others...not the best but he atleast makes some big and impact plays here and there....Seems to be alright overall although he has his strengths and then weaknesses, not really just an OK player in all areas
I'll eat my crow in not appreciating David Harris and wanting him gone. The poor middle linebacker play from Davis makes me appreciate Harris that much more. Why Davis was looking in the backfield prior to Mathews turning the wheel up is beyond me. He should've scored on two of those, and Sproles dropped one too. Give credit to Bradford in identifying the mismatches all day long. I said it a bunch of times before the game. That offense is tailor made to destroy man defenses and they did just that.
He's coached 4-3 defenses in Miami and Philly. I know he wasn't the top guy there but then with the Cards and Jets already had 3-4 personnel when he arrived. I'm sure his scheme is more than flexible enough to run any front. Bill Belichick has switched from 3-4 to 4-3 and back like 5 times or more lol. A good coordinator schemes for his players. I've noticed Coples is barely used as an OLB, he holds the edge or rushes the passer and mostly plays down.
I liked the body slam. It should not have been flagged, but he can't cover for shit. What was Coples thinking that last play?
The problem he never thinks, our LB's are garbage, they are so overrated, Harris makes tackles when the play is right at him, the rest are useless. We have a great defensive line, fairly good safeties and great corners, but our LB's are a horrible group, dragging the D down
